Just wondering if anyone actually used any ball guns, and what type they use. ever since i was a kid i thought they were by the coolest, but it seems to be a overwhelming concensus that they suck. Any feed back?

I still like to use one of the 4 Blast-A-Balls I have to attack people inside. The sound is fearsome, and with practice you can get pretty damned accurate at shooting them across the room at a target 10-20 feet away. I wouldn't mind finding a Blast-a-Matic if it means I can shoot multiple balls without reloading.

I also have the Master Blaster, a Ballzooka, and 2 or 3 Pulsators *grimace*, but none of them get used ever, really. I might repair the Ballzooka and use that, because its handle comes out at inopportune times.

In general, I don't think ball guns have very much use in an outdoor, spread out Nerf war. But for indoor skirmishes or ambushes, don't count them out.

Ball guns are just fun for fucking around with. They're great for attacking innocent people. If I shoot my sister or friend with my crossbow when they're not expecting it, they'll probably get pissed. If I ambush them with a ball blaster, it's all good, as balls don't really hurt too much at all. Janga, why do you have 2-3 pulsators to begin with? I can jizz farther than that thing shoots...

Because I take pity on the poor things. I run a small Nerf Orphanage out of my basement.

But in all seriousness, I bought one back when they first came out, hoping it would be like my Master Blaster, but with more smooth of action. Since then, I've got 2 of them off Ebay, when they come with better guns in small lots.

The Pulsator is probably one of my least favorite guns, but instead of melting them down into raw materials, I'm working on a mod. I have enough room for error, anyhow. Number 3 is the charm.

I never bought any of the rotation-firing ball guns, like the Ripsaw or the Cyclotron. Anyone have experience with those?

I had a Ballzooka. After a while it just stopped firing.

Im getting my hands on a masterblaster which im very happy about, and im gonna try to get a ballzooka and compare them. I was thinking of trying to mod ball guns also, maybe add some type of rifling to the barrells to give the balls some spin which would result in better accuracy and range. Just gotta find time.

I have the Ripsaw. Its a ballgun...they are all alike. The sound can be pretty intimidating though...and if you can feed the balls into the gun fast enough it can be like a rapid-fire gun.

You could try to give the balls hop up. Put a small piece of tape on the bottom of one the inside of one of the barrels, so the ball slows down on the bottom and gets back spin. Airsoft guns use hopup and get better range with it.

No the tape would go on the top, doing what neo say will give the ball topspin which is the opposite of backspin and will make the ball go down faster.

Personally, I have had more experience with dart-based guns, but a one of my friends has a Master Blaster and a Pulsator. I don't want to diss ball guns too much, because they are good for excellent applications (such as situations similar to Neonerfer's). I am sure most of us prefer to use dart guns because they are more accurate and have better range, but maybe someday there will be someone who will come up with some better mods for ball guns. I may buy myself a ball gun and try coming up with mods. If anyone finds out any mods for ball guns, please let us know.

i found something like a mod for a ball gun. there's a gun called the reactor which is a lot like another gun (can't remember the name) anyways the gun comes with four balls for it, but it can fit six. if you put six in it'll be harder to use but it will fire farther and harder. however this gun is already not that accurate.

You guys have been bringing up old topics all night. Will you give it a rest? If anyone cared about these topics, there would have been more posts. Most people get annoyed when you bring back old topics, so try not to do it.

I really like ball guns. I've owned 5 ballzookas, and I never get tired of them. I have a SMLE Ballgun. I can't wait to shoot it.(I don't have/or can find any ball for it, but o'well) I think ball guns are too under-rated.

I believe I get the award for oldest topic revival.

The question of ball guns has intrigued me of late, since my younger brother recently purchased a Reactor. Noting its abysmal accuracy and range, we tried to come up with a way to justify the ten dollars he had shelled out for it.

The answer also addressed the age old question of nerf grenades.

Turn the Reactor into a "grenade" launcher. Rather than creating a rule that would be difficult to enforce, such as "if it lands three steps from you it kills you," we chose to instead allow ricochets to count as a normal hit, but only with ball guns.

Let me tell you, trying to dodge four nerf balls bouncing around in a small room with hardwood floors during an indoor war is quite a task. It also makes you think twice about taking cover in the corner behind the bookcase.

Nerf balls don't bounce much, but they do bounce, and it's won him a few games, and made his ten dollars at least somewhat useful.

i'll add to this...

i own both a pulsator and a ripsaw, and i must say they are quite fun to use in a war, the ripsaw is suprisingly accurate in low/no wind, and the pulsator is just plain out fun, i find rushing with it to be fun as it's hard for them to dodge when they dont know where it will go
