I have been having problems recently with my darts breaking/splitting. This mainly occurs in my air powered guns, specifically my airtechs and titan. After a recent war with friends we broke about 20% of our supply. Currently we are using just plain stock darts (taggers, suction cups, whistlers, streamliners, etc.) in cpvc barrels. I feel that the current size of barrels that I use is too small, but I just ordered some PETG from OMC and that should help there. Currently, our stefans haven't been reliable enough to replace our stock darts, so we really need to find a way to repair these.

So, what can I do to repair these shredded darts? Most just have a small rip about a 1/2" long in the middle. I suppose advice on how to avoid this situation would be useful to, but I would like to point out again that we are not ready to completely convert to using stefans and that PETG is on the way.

CPVC is too tight and that, in conjunction with the high powered air blaster, is what is causes the tears in the darts.

As for repairs you could try the straw method found in the mod directory and then some super glue to fix the tear, but that probably won't hold up too well. I would just buy new darts, since I don't believe there is a perfect way to fix your problem.

Back when I first started nerfing in the assassin games with modded guns, I also noticed this split in the dart.
If the dart would ever shoot terribly or not at all we would see these tears in the sides. We didn't call them tears. We called them vaginas. Hell we even used it as an adjective.
For example.

"Whats wrong with that stock dart Jim? After the way it just fired it looks like it vagina'd"

What an odd bunch people of we are.

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

To help prevent this from happening, you could use the write-up here, I did, and I never had a strengthened dart split. Straws to srengthen micros.

The reason this is happening is because your barrel is too short for your air out put. Because the dart is hollow, pressurized air is entering the inside of the dart and expanding it. On the way out of the barrel, the air is still highly pressurized, and once part of the dart exits the barrel the air "pops" the dart much like an over inflated balloon. To fix this, either pump the gun less, use a longer barrel (the longer the barrel, the more time air has to expand inside the barrel before it reaches the dart and therefore less pressure is acting on the dart), use a different barrel material (with a slightly wider OD than CPVC, PETG works fine), or do what I do. Convert the stock dart into a stefan. Cut/rip off the tip, use a low-temp hot glue gun to make a hotglue seat for the weight. Insert weight and cover with hot glue. I personally cut each dart in half to get two stefans out of it. These will fly ridiculously far in air guns (airtech range ~90', Titan~too far too measure) with the right length barrel. An airtech should have at least 6" barrels, longer if it's singled. A Titan shouldn't have anything less than an 18" barrel, 2' isn't too bad either...just akward.

I have to dissagee(sp?) with you imaseulman(if thats the way u say your name), I tried this with my titan and it didnt vagin, it tore in half, and IM using a three fott barrel. But I am smart enough to know that its to much power so I agree with you on that note, but personally it doesnt bother me because wehn I use my titan I either want to hurt someone, or get a really accurate shot on them from really far distances(really far), but I would use stefans for any of these, or perhaps one of my amor peircing darts(I destroyed a pair of DTG glasses using these).

P.S. I really like using ()(), if you havent noticed. :P

..........WHAT??

The horror show that is your grammar in this post is too distracting for me to even begin considering the content it is trying to express. You've been here long enough dude, clean it up.

And remember, periods are like the written language's little rest stops. They give you a moment to stop, catch your breath, and contemplate why the fuck you are on this trip in the first place.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I don't know why I forgot about the straw mod. I guess at the time when I did it it seemed too much work for too little gain in performance.
