I recently had a inside nerf war and my friends kept my LS and my mavs cocked overnight, does it damage them?

Leaving any material in a stressed state will eventually alter its stability. It's far harder on the plastic components than the spring itself.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

Oooh, I can't stand it when people do that! It wears out the spring faster than normal, and if they're left that way for too long, it will decrease range.

EDIT: and what CaptainSlug said.

Heh, some of my friends just don't give a shit if the gun is cocked or not, and then I have to go uncocking them all and they are all like, "wow what's the big fuss, it's a fucking nerf gun." It's a good thing they are cheaper than airsoft guns but I hate it when they get ruined especially ones that have been modded to a certain extent.

Yes, it does. My secong gun was a mav, and I always left it cocked, the part on top of the plunger broke, so it couldn't cock. But if it was just overnight, it should be fine.
