ok, ive been reading forums for a while now and i just got an idea. i decided to give something back to the community. i have a normal mod nf (air restrictor removal and petg barrel), but i don't have accurate darts. i haven't had time to go and get fbr to make stefans so i decided to imprive. i have a lot of stock darts laying around and i did something with them. follow this procedure.

1) get your dart

2) use scissors to cut the dart about 1.5 in - 2in. from the bottom

3) after cutting, the suction cup side should be small

4) take out the suction cup and add wieght. (either 2 bbs or 1 3/0 fish weight)

5) now glue the weights in with a hot glue gun on both sides, top and bottom [b] Make sure you leave some room at the bottom when glueing

6) if you want more repeat 1-5

So you fill the suction cup with glue for weight? this has ben done they are called ether cdtd's or ctd's.

I live in Australia, and for some reason, our hardware stores don't sell the proper foam, so maybe you should give him some slack and lay off the name calling.

As far as these "new" stefens and the ensuing flames go: ok, sure, they're an old idea, and yes, we're all sick of topics with a cyclical lifespan. But the price you pay for belonging to a forum with an incredibly active message-board is seeing new members posting old ideas. Flaming a new member is just cauterizing their growth as productive posters. If nothing else, the recurrance of this type of post means that the idea is a good one: many people have discovered it on their own and it's working well. The natural selection of the forum will mean that this topic will sift down out of site once everybody stops posting. So villain, the idea's not new, but we all look forward to seeing something that is. Get out there and nerf.

oh and pc III i didn't mean to add the weights to the suction cup but to the hole in the smaller part of the dart. so basically it makes a mini stefan.

Okay.... seriously nooby question: Why are they called Stefans? I've been getting good results with the stock darts, so why make them?

Stefan Mohr (I stand corrected) made them first. They have his name. In higher powered modified guns, stock darts lose their goodness. And stefans are much cheaper.

I think my Mav is my strongest in terms of sheer muzzle velocity, although, my NF is pretty good now that I pulled the AR from it. I try to make them as stock as possible. At some point I'm going to machine some parts for my LS (see Trevor's topic for what I'm thinking about doing) and make it super powerful with micros or stefans. Umm... the one thing I don't get about stefans is why they're shorter than stock darts?

Some people think they help in flight, some say it's just cheaper- 3" stefans get you 4 stefans/foot. 2" stefans get you 6 stefans/foot. 20' of foam, that's a 40-dart difference.

Also, I apologize for my first post, though I am getting sick of seeing CDTS threads constantly. I was in a weird mood, and despite its unoriginality, it's good to see new members eager to contribute.

1) It's Stefan MOHR. Anyone remember Nerf Complete? Or at least Spoon's Die Hard Nerf Warrior homepage? If not, never mind.

2) Welcome villian 07. If you have been reading the forums, you know that we're real sticklers for good forum etiquette and sentence form. So please start getting in the habit of using the shift key to begin your sentences. Yes, it's anal-retentive, but it's the general rule, and I figure you mean well so I'd give you the heads-up early.

3) Sure, lots of folks have cut the heads off their perfect-fitting Nerf darts and call them the ideal stefan. But the spirit and intention of the Stefan dart was a HOMEMADE replacement for those Nerf brand darts that inevitably end up lost/ shot into oblivion/ eaten by your dog or cat... once upon a time that rendered our Nerf weapons useless, but since Stefan Mohr was the first to share the information on the 'net (no one knows for sure who "invented" it first, Stef gets the credit anyway), and that's what set modified Nerf on it's way... that's all my opinion for what it's worth.

Nowadays you can get Nerf replacements like water, so the whole stefan dart thing is pretty much an option... although my best weapons ("Roadblocker"--my SuperMaxx 5000, and my recently done SuperMaxx 1500) shoot stefan darts a whole lot better than stock darts; I think partly because the stefans are solid in structure and not tubular like the modified yellow stockers (I use those too) or CDTDs (converted Dart Tag darts).


No biggie. We're getting so many new users with good intentions, older members should try to help, not hinder the newbies. Save the bashing for the admins or go to NerfHQ.
