Here's the scoop:

I was trying to do Joey's Big Bad Sexy mod. I do the hot glue thing, stick in the white piece, all is hunky-dory.

Until I try to reassemble the gun, that is. Houston, we have a problem.

I looked at the pictures in the write-up, and I realized the problem. Guess what? Having only taken a cursory, ADHD glance at the pictures, I had put the white piece all the way flush with the rim of the orange piece, instead of about 3/8-1/2 inches in like I was supposed to.

I know what you're thinking: "Omega, you dumbshit". Yeah, I know. All I'm wondering is if there is any way I can salvage this situation. Like some other way I can put my barrel in and still make it about as sturdy as the BBS.

Try to cut out the white piece out of the hot glue with an exact-o knife and then take a dremel or if you don't have one, the same exact-o knife, and start cutting away the hot glue until you get to where ever you want and then re-glue the white piece on.

Which dremel bit do you recommend? I have a high-speed cutter, a small diamond cutting wheel, and a small drill-type bit. I have some others, but I don't think they would work.

I just use a cutting wheel and make a big tic-tac-toe/shred pattern and then use an exact-o knife to cut away the chunks.

I don't quite understand what you are ahveing problems with exactally, but if it is just hot glue, use a hair dryer and slowly heat up the plastic. The glue will become soft and then you can pull it out. Go slowly but I doubt a hair drier is hot enough to melt plastic. but go slow just in case and at your own risk.

I have remelted the tips of some of my stefans with the hair dryer on low heat.

I have no idea what his problem is. Just put whatever has hot glue on it in the fridge for like, 15 minutes. It will become brittle, and crack easier and in pieces.

He is trying to say that he put too much hot glue on the inside of the front part of the gun where you glue the PVC pipe on and now it won't go back on bc the plunger is supposed to sit inside that piece a little bit and the glue is in the way.

Nice technique, donz. I got the white piece out,now to dremel out the old glue.

Keef was referring to the hot glue, not the gun

The hotglue will shrink down, and be easier to pry loose.

Boil the part with the glue on it. This happened to me when I was doing Joey's BBS. Boil it, and it will get soft, and then scoop it/cut it out with an X-ACTO knife. Works great, as long as you're careful. Gets the hot glue out like a charm.

[The Trouble]

Just for reference, a blow-dryer works pretty well too. Heat it enough to be pliable, and just pull the chunks off.

I've never tried the freezer method. I'm always willing to try something that ends up in my wife saying, "Why is there a Nerf blaster in the ____?"

All right, I finally got the problem fixed, after a much longer period of time than was intended andmany, many more severe cock-ups than I care to relate here.

I used the boiling method, the hair dryer, my mom's paper embossing gun (my new sworn enemy), x-acto knives, and lots of time and profanity.
