[Morally Challenged]

I've been reading a lot of the posts on the Homemades forums lately and have come across many posts talking about what to use as a trigger when they build nerf guns using air pressure rather than springs. This has been kind of staring me in the face for a while and just the other day it struck me when I was going though the tool section of Home Despot for some good glue for my Recon mod I was working on. I was looking though the section that sold air tools and it struck me. The blower attachments would be perfect to act as a trigger. It opens quickly enough to not waist air or make the dart launch before enough pressure has built up.

How much did they cost? If they are over $10 they are probably unreasonable and you might as well just use a hose sprayer thingy mabober. But, if they are cheap, they do look cool.

just looking around with out looking all that hard I found them between 4 to 10 bucks

Don't bother, I tried that a while back and it simply doesnt have a high enough flow rate to throw the dart more than 20ft with a nice barrel. I just now tried it again with my HPA setup putting out @ 90 psi and got the same results. I know that somewhere on one of those spudding websites there are instructions on how to mod blowguns to increase their output by a little, but it's still not enough to serve as the firing mechanism on an air powered gun. You're probably better off using them to vent a larger valve (modified solenoid sprinkler valve or piston valve).
This is a pretty good example of what I'm talking about. Hope it helps.

I can second that from personal experience.

I dont think they would work because of:
1.the valve is to small to let air out in an instance.
2.I doubt the valve will be able to take so much power if your dart is substantually close to the valve.
3.If you had a tight fitting barrel you'd probably be screwed, if attatched to this.

They aren't that useful as a main valve for nerf darts but they're handy when it comes to piloting a piston valve or firing smaller projectiles such as bbs. Check a place like spudfiles for more information on either.

Those have a very low flow rate and won't be able to a fire a dart. I know because I've played with the ones at work. The valve inside is just too small and restrictive.
You should look into garden hose handles instead. They will be more problematic to adapt though.

Sorry to kick an older topic around, but people use these all the time in spudguns, but only to trigger pneumatic sprinklers or piston valves. I'm using one on my metal mini, I guess I could take a vid shooting a nerf dart out of the half inch barrel this week and post it so you can see something other than a ball valve on a nerf gun.
