Thats right everybody. I am taking the initiative of sparking the flame in the OC (shudders at calling it that...). Good old Orange County. And i'm hosting it. Bags and I were talking and we've officially came up with the title for the OC wars: NANO (Not Another Nerf Off).

So, if you're in the surrounding areas of Orange County and would like to have a game, it's set for the First Weekend in April (April 5th).

edit:

official times, dates, and location

Date: April 5th
Time: 10am until ~ really whenever people want to leave...
Location:

The park is actually called Santiago Park, and the actual address of the place is:

Santiago Park
510 E Memory Ln
Santa Ana, CA 92706

the main cross street is Main Street, and it's directly across the street from the Discovery Science Center. next to the 22 and the 5 freeways. it's near the junction of the 5, 22, and 57 free ways. so, really it's an easy to get to location. it's VERY close to Main Place Mall, so there are plenty of places for food.

(thanks, Falcon, for the address!)

Is Glendora going to be the site of this war, because my parents aren't too thrilled about me driving an hour (from Huntington Beach) just to play with some plastic toys for a day.

Edit: Well, that makes me sound stupid. Glendora is in Los Angeles county. Anyways, wheres it going to be?

I have the same problem as Axelion_burnout. I would love to come but i don't know if my parents will let drive that far. There might be a chance I could soften them up so as soon as you know the place let me know.

yea, don't worry. it's actually Orange County. It may actually be at Huntington Beach High, because a friend of mine reccomended it. but there are no promises. so yes, in the real orange county, like Santa Ana, or Anaheim, or even, Orange! :D yea, don't you worry! any suggestions on the location will be great, i'll be scouting them out, soon.

Well... I'm in. It's no longer a drive than a trip up to g-town... and I can use the fastrak...or just crash at Your Place senior cheese...And there is the fact that I go to School in Teh OC... meh. Perhaps this is how SCUN finally gets Shwa (goes to Long Beach State) Back to a war.

and you know... its funny how everyone's complaining about driving an hour to go to a war... you're still in the same state, sheesh, some of those easties cross two to three states just to get to a war... and you're worried about an hour's drive? Tis a sad sad day in socal...

LOCATION OF NANO!!

ok, every body, the Location has been decided, it's going to be held at Garden Grove Park/ Atlantis Play Park. It's also right next to a high school, so we may be able to play there as well. Atlantis Play Park is near the 22 freeway, at Magnolia and Westminster Blvd (aka 17th street). It is a gated park, and I've set aside a date to rent the park for a few hours. There are stairs, bridges, hide aways, towers, crawling spaces, MASSIVE slides, strange walk ways, and yes, Picnic areas. there are also all sorts of nearby food restaurants. And until the Atlantis game starts we can play at the high school, or at the non gated park. it's kind of hidden away, so there aren't very many pedestrians.

Time:
the Atlantis games start at 4pm (because it's cheaper after hours!). fortunately spring ahead will be in place, and the sun will be out longer. but in case, maybe attatch some lights to the guns. So, the final games, at Atlantis Park will be held from 4 - 6:30 (maybe 7). We can still meet earlier for the other games, like maybe 1 or 2pm.

We would love to get as many people playing this game as possible, as Atlantis Park is 4 acres and we'll have it all to ourselves. It looks like we already have 2 people in OC that Bags and I didn't know about. I'll Probably be bringing 4 new players and Bags will be there. :D OC nerf shall rise!!

This is all excellent news... I'll notify the RC SCUNers. Shouldn't we meet a little earlier? just because we can?

I guess we could. I don't know how long people would want to play for. i was just thinking that we'll have Atlantis Park until 6 or 7. so if people want to play, literally, all day, more power to ya, i guess. i'll do it. but if people want to show up, go for the later times, that way we'll have more people for Atlantis.

From the satellite view on Google it looks like a great location, and only a 15 minute drive from my house! Count me in, and probably Soccerdog813 as well. I doubt I have anything planned on the first weekend of April, so I would be able to go earlier.

Garden Grove Park

Cheese, I'll take this one:

Standard rules and such, Bring your own Guns/Ammo, we typically have some loner stuff for if you bring someone new, but that doesn't mean you should intentionally show up unprepared. No homemades, no singled Titans/SM5ks ect.... And this is just because you don't want to look too lame, don't wear more than one article of clothing that's camo.

Um... what's wrong with using an abbreviation? Haven't you noticed that we refer to Riverside as RC, and San Diego as SD...not to mention LA... come on, don't get so offended. It's not like I'm accusing anyone of being pompous representations of A crummy Fox TV show, It's just being lazy about how much I type. If Referring to Orange County, a place I spend as much time in as I do back home as OC bugs you... I may just do it waaay more just to piss you off. And all of you know it.

Go for it, I don't even care anymore. That show has been so ingrained into popular culture there is no way to get rid of THE OC, even though its off the air. Old habits die hard I guess.

Man that TV show sucked. Anyways, I guess I never really noticed how almost every city name is abbreviated on this site, but I was referring to "THE OC", I'm fine with calling it OC.

Bump...

Um The Boy of Cheese gave me a few updates in person the other day and since he hasn't decided to do any updating to his own thread, and this IS an upcoming SoCal war, i wanted to keep it on the front page of Wars. sounds like Atlantis park is ruled out due to the fact that it's more costly than he thought, and because we'd need to provide some sort of "group insurance." last time I checked SCUN was more of an umbrella name for the bulk of us who nerf in SoCal rather than a formal organization.

he's still looking around, but probably this means this war won't go as far into the night as originally planned, and hopefully it will now start earlier in the day.

I'd tell you guys more, but this isn't my war to organize, I'm just along for the ride. (This may be SCUN sanctioned, but neither of our CO-dictators, myself or falcon, are the hosts)

I know I'll do everything I can to get as many people there as possible on april 5th still.

Hey guys, sorry for he lack of an update. It was not by choice. I have not been near a computer with internet for approximately a month.

and yes. NANO, is still in progress and will ensue on the date scheduled: April 5th (first Saturday in April). A few things have changed, it's not at Atlantis Park, the cost was too high and i wasn't about to sign up for temporary group insurance just for a 3 hour game with plastic toys. Which is a shame, because Atlantis is awesome!

So, there are a few other parks in consideration. In fact they are all near the 22 freeway, so we should be able to get to playing at all of them. I would suggest carpooling, as gas is wretched. And for those of you who have their parents drive you, we'll come up with a drop off point, and a pick up point. I'll have the idea of what parks to use by the end of this week. i'll also post pictures!

in terms of games, I think i really want to play spawn ball. in all of the last wars we went to, people kept bailing out, so the most we could do was a small game of manhunt and pistol rounds. So, i want to play Spawn Ball, dang it. Also, manhunt was a great game, and i can already think of a great park for that. Pistol games are good, and I have a new idea for a game and good capture the flag should happen. So prepare yourselves for a good time. I think, though that Bags should take command on which games to be played. I'll show him around.

from here on out, i'd like to have some pms and maybe replies on the thread saying if you'll be there. I'm inviting every one in the surrounding areas, including Carona and Glendora. if there is any one in nearby LA county, like Long beach, or even San Bernardino County isn't too far. Walnut is only 25 min away down the 57. I'd like to try to get at least 15 people, and i know i already have 4 or 5 people who are going to play, not including any one from the forum. So please, let me know if you are coming!!
