Alright, we need a new location for future YANOs.

Since the majority of our participants in the past have come from SD, Irvine, Pasadena, LA, and the desert communities, lets try for something towards the middle of that area.

What I want:

A variety of war zones at one location. Look for something similar to the old urban area with a scattering of small buildings, walls, planters, etc for cover. It would be a plus to have a wilderness area so we can run some wars in the rocks and trees.

A location that does not have an overabundance of people on a typical Saturday or Sunday.

A location that is on public land or has pre-approval by the owner of the property.

Restrooms and fast food nearby.

Now lets hear some ideas.

phew, finally. i thought someone would never boot me in the ass. anyways, my only other suggestion for the moment is to try and steer away from schools. at least where i live, most of the public schools have been really trying to make them not so public on the weekends. i just don't want the same thing to happen to our original spot.

i don't think i'd have a problem finding us a wilderness-like area to play at with ample food and rest nearby. i'll look for something with somewhat of an empty urban area also. if we do end up playing in the wilderness-esque places i can think of, the only problems i see are a) more running required than Irvine Bee) far less dart finding oppurtunities c) camo actually could help, meaning we may have to modify the camo rule to either 'no camo' or 'go camo'. it would definately make the game somewhat more 'serious' if we played in the 'jungle', but i wouldn't really mind that. i'll start looking for le creme de le creme of the spots i can think of.

another problem with me finding a spot is that you all get to drive a good distance to come nerf in or around pasadena, and the SD guys may as well fly up, that's like a 3-4 hour drive...or a 2-3 hour, $28.99 train trip. so...in conclusion, if we have a war here, people are going to have to be really committed. we could even have a super-duper-all-weekend-two-days-plus-campout-extraveganza, but that may not work out. i definately don't want to spend the night in the wilderness if spoon's coming.

LOL! I just remembered when spoon said "Hey box! I have lube in my van if you need it."

Look theres no reason to fear camping with me. Spoon doesn't get "worse" after three days in the jungle, he's just more "concentrated".

I totally agree on the need to find a good location soon, I'm REALLY starting to itch for another nerf war (a real one this time). My film didn't get picked up, so I have to move shooting to this summer and raise independent financing, so I won't be nearly as busy winter break as I thought. I'd also like Steph to be able to nerf with us one more time since in January she leaves to study in England for 5 months.

Regarding a wilderness area, don't bother looking for one in your area, Ray. If we can't find something with a good urban area we can always settle for Bonelli park. It's at the 57/10 interchange and is a little more central to everyone. It would add about 20 minutes to the commute of the Irvine/SD people and reduce the commute a similar amount for the Pasadena/Desert people. From LA it's about the same distance. The park is huge (2,000 acres) so I'm sure we could find an isolated area for the war.

bonelli park sounds like a winner to me. boy, i could get to YANOs in 30 minutes if they were there. that would most definately add to the number of people i could bring. good call.

Hey, that wouldn't be to bad! According to Mapquest, it would only be about 40 minutes from my house! I might actually be able to go, if I could get someone to take me...

That area looks pretty good. Providing it isn't as uptight as Irvine. It's only 40 minutes or so from my house. Nice find.

I like it, especially the water area...we should rent some boats and have drive bys(sp...?)....anyways...if Steve's mom can drive I can go, I still have that Milky way bar from last time, I wonder if I could sell it... Count me in, I'll be there.

*edit* Never mind my dad just ate it  ...

Sounds good to me. I've always been fond of Bonelli park.

No boats, due to liability issues, but inflatable rafts are allowed. You've had that milky way for months and your dad just now ate it? You're a fucking lying peice of shit. Wheeglebeeglewhoooobadywhoogle.

Yeah well it's 5 minutes from my house... I'll go scout it sometime soon and find a suitable location for a war. We'll need to identify the specific area in advance so everyone can find it.

I'll try to find an outlying area so we can park in an adjacent residential community and avoid the $6 parking fee. It would be easier to find that way anyhow.

Out of curiosity, how many people have handheld GPS receivers?

Yep he just ate it (not really just anymore though...) it was in the foody cabinet waiting for me to eat it. Then I put it in my Halloween bag. Then he took it out, it's like a big circle!

Hey, I don't even have one... yet.

I just noticed that the Geko 101 was down to $79 on sale somewhere the other day. At that price, I wondered if anybody else has them and if it would be useful to anybody to send GPS path info for war locations in a park this big.

Seems the answer, at this point, is no.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but I am considering attending my first YANO this year, and Bonelli Park sounds great to me. It's less than an hour from my house, and I think it'd be an excellent war location.

Shall we start the planning?
