So guys I have been wanting to post in this homades forum for a while so I finally decided too. my topic is ghillie suits. My question is does anybody else have a homade ghillie suit or any ghillie suit for that matter. If you look very closely for the red gun and the reflective sweatshirt, you'll actually notice there are four people in this picture. Blows your mind, doesn't it?
The draw strings on the ankles keep out the ticks, there are good dart pockets in all the right places, and I got the whole thing for the cost of the dry cleaning, since no one showed up to claim it for a year. But if I threw together a ghillie suit and took it to a war, I'd still be out there in Mill Creek Park trying to look like Swamp Thing, waiting for someone to wander close enough.

I too have contemplated ghille suits, and I have found that they would be pointless (although I have made camo out of twigs and leaves in woods battles.

If you want to be camoflougued (I am not exactly sure how to spell that), just get a camo rain suit. Lightweight, not to warm for a war. But the whole Ghillie suit thing is kind of ghetto, or just overkill. But to anyone out there who thinks it would be a good idea for "camoflougue" to wear a full-on ghillie suit, I would ask if there were mental wheelchair ramps before attending.

I can honestly see this being semi useful during thick forest wars.
As far as the whole whats the point with bright orange guns well I would only hope that anyone who wants to blend in that badly would also ghillie or paint his Nerf gun accordingly.

Anyways, I think that in any situation a ghillie would mitigate movement way too much to be a plausible option.

If this were an Airsoft site, the idea might take off. However, there's been enough discussion that sitting in a corner or going prone in the woods and picking people off all game just isn't part of the Nerf tradition. Plus, Nerf is supposed to be an inexpensive hobby.

Besides, most of the wars I've heard of take place at parks and schools. Unless you hid in a tree (assuming it's in the spring or summer), then you wouldn't have a chance to use the suit. Even if you did that, you'd get destroyed once everyone figured out your tactic and hiding spot.

Good intent, but it's not what we want.

I would use a Ghillie suit only to prove the rule that one douche bag shows up to every war. I would promptly take it off because its a bad idea. I might even put it back on if it was an urban war, just for the fact of looking like a douche bag again. But really, way to over the top and restrictive to be of any use at a war. It just sounds like a bad idea. Were real bullets and real wars going on, then yes, use a ghillie suit. If its a casual nerf war with nerf guns, no.

Three things for you to contemplate. For one thing, insulting the staff for their alternate word for a long range combatant filter is probably a good start to getting on their bad side. Secondly, there are no long range combatants in Nerf, hence the filter to end this annoyance. It will change it to something else when you try to post any visual variation of that word. Finally, and this is a big one, you necroed a topic from 4 months ago to bitch about the filter. If you are trying to get banned, you are off to a great start.

No I think you suck. These guys would ban you in a heartbeat. And the idea of one in a nerf war is stupid, which is why it is replaced by 'loser.' Besides what does that have to do with ghillie suits, anyway?

So, back on topic...

The only use for a ghillie suit in a nerf war is if you don't have a gun or you just want to blend in to the foliage. You can jump out and scare people, too, and then get shot from 4 feet away. Great idea, madman.

I agree with FA's earlier comment. In some rare cases, a ghillie suit may work a forest war, only if you plan on sitting in one spot for the whole war praying that someone will pass by. Otherwise, just stick to DBUs and other combat fatigues for camoflauge. I personally would just wear a dark green or gray shirt and some light gray pants. Just stick to neutral colors if you don't want to draw attention to yourself.

If you think about it, no there aren't many nerf wars in the bush. But damn guys...you can't just be like "Well I've never nerfed in a forested area so it's a fucking ghey idea, jebus christ!" I mean seriously, you are being rude and mean to the poor guy. My first nerf war was in the woods. It made a good war too. And I actually had someone sneak up on me and hide in a hole and get me. So yes, it is practical. Just because the ratio of forested nerf wars to non forested nerf wars is about 0.5:30, doesn't mean that he can't try to make one. They are handy as a pocket on a shirt during airsoft. And if you play some sort of attack and defend game or CTF in the woods, then someone with a ghillie suit would come in handy on the defending side or whatever. Think abou it, someone invisible laying 15 feet from the flag could slaughter a team just by basically using the flag as bait.



And Blashpemy, I didn't call them losers you dumbass. Try typing out S-N-I-P-E-R and you will see that it changes it to loser. That's because, as MonkeyBoy said, the language filter is set to change it to loser. There are no sni-pers in nerf. Thus when one sni-pes in nerf, they are losers. So I never said that an 11 year old would be an asset to the military...just that his work is of good enough quality for the military. [/end counter flame towards Blasphemy]

Huh, I had no idea they cost this much.
If you spend more than one hundred dollars on a Ghillie suit for a nerf war, you seriously need to have your parents curb your allowance. I can't think of anyone that would spend that much of the money that THEY earned on the equivalent of a giant monster costume so that they can get the drop on someone in a nerf game. Get camo if you really want concealment. Army surplus offers camo at more reasonable prices, and you can at least use it for something else later, like hunting.
