Here is my Recon mod.
I did an AR removal (which is a pain to do)
Put a section of AR15 recoil spring in 2" PVC and wrapped it in duct tape and sheet foam.
Then I glued it to the gun, so yes I can't remove it.
Finally I put a 1/2" Copper barrel in the existing barrel for a tighter fit with streamlines.
Add my 14 dart extended clip from my Longshot and we are good to go!
It doesn't detach anymore but it gets good ranges now, about the same as my Longshot with streamlines that have been upgraded (lead weight + hole plugged)

I like the look of the new stock!
How sturdy is it?

I like that the diameter of your spring-stock attachment is about the same as the rear of the gun, it balances nicely. However, wouldn't a 2" width tube allow the AR spring to bend and kink up? I'd think that would rob it of some of its' power. And are you planning to do anything with the end of your stock? Right now you've just got a tube with no shoulder brace.

That Recon is one sexy beast. How good is your seal. Is it like the FA_24's breach? LiNk- http://nerfhaven.com...wtopic=8021&hl=

Nice job, I was planning on doing something like this before I ruined my recon by trying an experimental breech that lasted a day. Hows the acuracy on it? And if I were you I would make the barrel a little shorter, but other than that I will try something like this on my next Recon.

Thanks for all of the questions

Range ~ 40'
Effective range ~ 20' (straight fire no angle and hits a wall and the same height as it was shot at)
Good accuracy with modded streamline darts. Bad with stock streamlines because they fishtail.
The Copper barrel is just that the barrel, I didn't go crazy like FA_24 and rebuilt the breach.
My AR15 Recoil spring fits perfectly in the 2" PVC, so no bending, but the spring is very loud when I fire it.
As for no shoulder brace I put the black part on top of my shoulder but that might only work for me because I am 6'5" and weigh 15 Stones.
The Barrel still has some dead space with streamlines but a tagger or sonic dart wouldn't fit.
Also the barrel is of a good length for the power this thing puts out, if anything it should be longer.
Finally the rear stock is very sturdy and doesn't feel like it would fall apart at all (unless you dropped it).

Looks good, sounds like it is effective enough. But I think it is screaming for a shotgun foregrip - the image I get is of you (not that I know what you look like) holding this thing with the stock on top your shoulder, then raising your off-hand even higher to cock it. I would think that would be rather awkward and even get in the way of your field of vision a bit. With a shotgun grip, you would at least be able to drop your hand under the barrel - and since the whole thing is glued to gether now you wouldn't have too much trouble putting such a grip under there.

I don't know if adding the AR15 spring actually did anything for you. I get a little over 40' and I just have an AR removal and barrel replacement. I could be wrong though. It looks beastly either way. Nice clip too.

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to use the recoil spring,that "AR-15" refers to the buffer spring.

Yep, I think you were supposed to use the buffer spring, found here:
http://www.talonarms...products_id=208

You'd probably get better ranges with that spring.

@Omega:
Yes what I have been calling a AR15 recoil spring is a buffer spring, sorry for the confusion.

@analogkid:
Unlike some I am conservative on my ranges, and I did see a range jump when I added the spring.

@Ambience 327:
How I hold it is the stock on top of my shoulder my cheek pressed against the sheet foam my right hand on the handle/trigger and my left hand on the carrier to work its action. I aim with the orange nub that sticks up over my left hand. Works very well for me and it is very stable and easy to aim.

I suggest adding some 17/32" brass in the bolt, and shave it to the size of the bolt. I get as far as my NF (like, 40 feet). Nitefinders don't like me...

25 feet should get more range I would think.

Sigh....
You just can't win with ranges either people flame you for having a number to large or criticize you for having a number to small.
As for my numbers these are un-angled ranges so yes it would go at least 60 or more angled but lets not get into that flame war again.

As for further mods on this gun, no, I am done with it, it works great for me and I am happy with it.

As for me this is my last mod, I'm old now; I'm out of college and working a full time career so I am getting out of Nerf. I am keeping my favorite guns (this one, a Tec-Target, a Magstrike, a BBB, an AT2k and a SuperMax 1500) and giving the rest of my guns (about 80%) to a floor on my old college that does Nerf every quarter.
Here is the old army bag that I stuffed them all into.

I might be tempted to have a stab at the Vulcan when it is released but that depends on its internals.
Either way do less talk and more mods; and take it easy.

In the future check the date of the previous post to avoid necroing an old topic (posting in an old one). See that link in the top left corner? it says Code of conduct, I would suggest you read that. Not trying to be mean of back seat mod, just trying to help you not get banned.
