Today, I decided to finally do something with my old SS2. After a realizing that the tank wasn't holding any air, I did the water test. All of the air simply leaked out of the barrel.

This got me thinking of DTReaper's thread here. I figured that the airtanks may be slightly similar (despite the opposite trigger setups). I cut the airtank apart, and couldn't find the issue. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
I'd appreciate the help.

I made a video of the basic function of the airtank-
1.) Air from the first pump blows the small rod forward, to seal off the barrel.
2.) Other pumps pressurize the airtank.
3.) The trigger somehow draws the rod from step 1 back, allowing air out the barrel.

I don't know what the problem is, but the same thing happens with mine. The solution I found was just to pump it really fast, somehow this seemed to help it hold pressure usually.

SS2's in general have a finicky seal. I have two of them myself, one has the problem, one doesn't. I suggest what Matt31 said. Just pump it real fast until you feel it seal up. after that you can pump it like normal. It should hold after that. If not then there is something else wrong.

I would, but mine doesn't even make the seal. I can pump it 60 times, and no pressure builds up. After thinking about it, I'm pretty sure the issue is that the rod just isn't sealing with the barrel, but there may be a larger problem.

I'm not sure... you probably have a problem with the seal but then so does everyone with air guns

well that's weird. How is the condition of the seal on the rod? That could have something to do with it. A bit of E-tape might help, but I really don't know the specifics of the inside of that tank so I have no idea.

I've fucking had 4 SS2's, none of which would hold air no matter what I tried.

I checked the inside of the airtank, and couldn't find anything wrong. I'm epoxy-ing it back together now.

I have the same problem on my SM1500. I'll see what I can do with that, since it's almost just like the AT2K, and DTReaper's fix would apply the same way.

I couldn't tell too well what was going on in the video, how is the o-ring that I think I saw on the little piece? Maybe replacing it with a larger one or new one would help.

I've had a lot of problems with guns that use the stopper-type valve. Have you tried pointing it downward and pumping fast? Thats what I had to do with my pocket blaster, and it worked.

Edit: I just remembered that i had one of these before I got into modding... It didn't hold air either, so try lubing the stopper and see how that works.

My SS2 leak had NOTHING to do with any of the valve components or the black rubber piece. The barrel itself is glued onto the airtank. Somehow air was leaking out of that connection and not with anything else.

Make sure that when you goop the tank back together, it is perfectly level. If anything is at an angle, the rubber pieces won't seal on each other and it won't hold air (which is why mine is fucked currently).
