Before making assertions about physics, learn what you're talking about.

Voltage = Current * Resistance

Amps = Amount of Electricity flowing per second

Voltage = potential difference. Aka, the maximum possible output of electricity.

That is why you can be shocked with 355000 volts of electricity, and not die.

Migher amps= More spring compressing power.
More Voltage= Higher rof.

Voltage is how fast the electricity is moving, amps is the amount of electricity, So your gun was having 9 times faster of a curent, but small gun with an already small spring, does not need more amps, the Vulcan (presumably) would. So a balance would need to be found.

Also, 6 D batteries when wired in parallel have a voltage of 9, the same as a single 9v battery. If you are using 3 9 volts, the amps change. I = V/R. 27/R is larger than 9/R.

Let me reiterate: The only thing that is constant in batteries is the VOLTAGE. The resistance and current all depend on the circuit.

One battery does not have more amps than another, since amps depend on the circuit. Please, stop confusing people.

LastManAlive, your pistol started going faster because you added more potential difference to it. AAAA - D batteries all have a potential difference of 1.5V each, just with a different amount of capacitance.

1 Car battery = 12V, current in gun = 12/R

6 D Batteries = 9V, current in gun = 9/R

1 9V Battery = 9V, current in gun = 9/R

That being said, I do not recommend doing anything past 9v on this gun, you don't want the damage the circuits and motor. It will heat up and can eventually break much faster is a larger voltage is used.

eat shit! Any-who I really cant wait for this to come out, and [not sure if this has been said already] would it be possible to link the chains together at the ends?

Do you really think any of us know if the chains can link together? None of us own this gun.

Well I'm sorry I don't posses the psychic mid-reading ability that would allow me to know that anyone here couldn't make an accurate guess based on pictures of it, while some people are calculating its RoF with ridiculously complicated algorithms. Sorry to sound like an ass.

Im getting tired of opening this thread and finding nothing but battery talk that has been cleared out already, and another assumption of some thing that has been asked or figured out already. Joeyaglr, can you make a rule(this will most likely favour a lot of us that have been keeping track of this thread) that one who is going to post something, reads through the whole thread first? Or to make it easier, I can make a summary of everything that had happened and PM it to you so you can post it in your original post, so I dont read this topic and find answered questions re-posted. Just let me know if you would like my help.

I say this thread should be closed, and only reopened when someone has factual evidence to add to it.
I apologize for my useless post.

I agree, someone needs to open another thread with all of the pictures on the first post, because after all thats all that really matters.

Well, it comes on a tripod, if it is good I can imagine it being a highly effective weapon for capture the flag, humans vs. zombies, and assassins. Let's hope it is air powered and not battery powered, that is if (big if) the 6-D batteries are only used for advancing the belt.

I think its battery powered. why would you need 6 d batteries to move a chain?

this gun is going to be in my arsenal.

We were simply letting this thread die, but you HAD to do it, didn't you?

It's probably not just for the chain. From the sounds of it, it should function like an Airsoft AEG, so It's operating a piston system as well as moving the chain (I wonder if it has a gearbox like any other AEGs...). The lower ROF COULD be because of a stronger spring. Don't forget about the fact that if the gun's nearly $50 including taxes, so the batteries may add another at least $20 to that.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. A good nerf gun is like a good woman. It shouldn't require extra lubrication.

This picture actually just popped up in the product awareness thread. Also, I can't find the video on the website, and when I try to navigate the rest of the site all I can see is the top menu thing, everything else is white. Does anyone else have this problem?

"...has a pneumatic pump that's used to fire off single rounds."
So, basically, it can be a 25-shot LS or a battery-powered machine gun...I believe that that deserves a "HECKS YEAH!"

I just have to say something about this because it is a pet-peeve of mine. This blaster is absolutely nothing like a tommy gun. It is fully automatic and has a trigger and barrel. Those are the only similarities. The tommy gun is a submachine gun that can use a stick mag or drum mag. It does not use a belt. The tommy gun is one of the most innovative, hand held weapons made in the past century, and it is my favorite gun, but why does everybody compare every machine gun to it?[/rant]

If you seen the video of it shooting, you'll know it isn't like a 25-shot-Longshot. It's an automatic dude...but a slow ROF one.

Holy crap, look at the screws on that thing! Dear God Almighty, DO NOT WANT. Although that front end with what's surely a faux barrel looks real good, I count 11 screw holes on that section alone...

Like Slug said, the people who wrote the article don't really know what they're talking about. When they say "pneumatic pump" they might be thinking of a plunger. Because if you look before the words you quoted, it says "Like many other NERF guns..."

EDIT: I figured out why the video doesn't work. The date says MAY 2008, which might mean that they haven't put it up yet, but will by May. It also says the price, and nerf.com. Perhaps this means it will be available in May, much sooner than we think.
