I've been wondering why EVERYONE on the forums absolutely loves the nf! I don't have one, but I can get 60+ feet with my (barely) modded mav, so whats so great about the nf? It can only hold one shot, and the cocking thing seems kinda inefficient.
Only NiteMavs can hit 60'. Theres no way you can get 60' with a "barely modded" maverick.
Just saying;
Nerfhaven doesn't like bullshit.
Welcome to Nerfhaven!
Why we like NiteFinders?
Well, I like NiteFinders because
-Easy to modify
-Small and one of the best sidearms
-Ability to add rubberbands
Next time you post a question about a nerf gun, try going to the modification directory and see what you can do to this gun. Searching also helps.

NF's often top 80', and are much more accurate than Mavericks. Also, they are cheaper, more readily available, and easier to modify. Rubber banding and the latest NF mod (on the front page) provide clues. I prefer effectiveness to being an ROF slut. Others can explain it better than I.
Also, this thread is akin to the nerf man 99 "ask me any thing" topic.
If I knew that every Nerf admin/founder/major member and many minor members love the NF, and I (Mister Nineposts) didn't like it, I would re-evaluate my assumptions so as not to make an ass of myself.

hmmm....Ok, I might, cause it's so cheap, but I really don't see any advantage over the mav. I guess my mav might be more than "barely modded". Maybe if you care more about accuracy and less about capacity...
What did you do to it? I don't thik even a night-mav can hit 60ft, maybe with bands.

Hmmmm... Maybe?
Make your point and prove it directly.
What exactly have you've done to your Maverick?
Nerfing isn't about capacity as much as accuracy and distance. Just ask OMC with his Crossbow going up against a Tommy20.

Because it tastes like Strawberries, duh.I've been wondering why EVERYONE on the forums absolutely loves the nf!
That and unlike the Maverick it...
- Doesn't have a tiny spring
- Doesn't have a tiny backwards plunger with a lot of dead space that prevents an effective build-up of pressure
- Doesn't have a leaky turret
- Doesn't have an unreliable turret rotation mechanism
- Isn't bulky enough to prevent it being a useful side-arm
- Isn't at all difficult to modify properly
- Doesn't max out at 30 feet of EFFECTIVE range
- Isn't inconsistent or unreliable

The NiteFinder is still good. Its the best blaster you could get for it's MSRP.

1.Moderately easy to mod, gets great results
2.Cool looking, particularly with a paintjob
3.People are always thinking of new ways to mod them like here and here and more recently here
4.Easy to cock, and the cocking mechanism is nearly begging for mods
5.Ample room, if you remove the "laser" bit, that is, for a small internal integration(I believe Starbuck does it here.
We're located in I-Don't-Give-a-Damn County, in scenic Shut-the-Hell-Up-achussets.

-As said, very easy to mod, in fact I just finished PN's mod (yes it DOES achieve GREAT ranges, just not 100 feet)
-Mine all get around 70 feet
They just all around kick ASS.

-Sucks
-A pain in the ass to mod
-Gets crappy ranges for the amount of frustration put into it
-Has the stupidest plunger set-up I have ever seen. (way too much dead space)
The only things it's good for:
-Makes great, fumy firewood
-Can be made into the NiteMav.
The NiteFinder just has so many possibilities and perks.
-It has a somewhat okay RoF
-Is very simple to mod
-gets great ranges for its size and for a sidearm, especially with heavy banding, spring replacement, and reinforcement
-Is only $6.
I think I have made my point clear.
It's not like that. I put lube on it and its the same. Its just stuck. And when I cock it back it goes farther back then usual. Also I push as hard as I can and it wont go back in. I've tried the methods and they wont work. Also pics are up.

Anyway,
nf's are the cheapest guns on the market. And also the gun that has arguably the most potential. Now if I can just learn to paint one....

Seriously, a well-modified nf totally owns all other pistols when it comes down to range and accuracy, just try it out, there's plenty of threads on this site with absolute genius mods!
[/quote]
It doesn't, it just provides the best bang for the buck, there are plenty of pistols that can do better than it, it's just that most of the old ones are discontinued.

Well, several reasons.
-Reliability
If you ever look inside a Nitefinder, you will see a very simple set up of a plunger, a plunger tube, a catch, and a barrel. The only complex thing in there is the light, which most everyone rips out at some point. This is a huge reason why the LnL is so popular; simplicity at it's best.
-Performance
Not only does the Nitefinder reliably shoot a plenty far for a sidearm, it also has a fairly quick reload. Earlier, there was someone talking about two types of reload speed, Burst rate of fire is over a short amount of time, something the Maverick excels in. The other (I forget the name of this one...) is over a longer period of time, something the Nitefinder at least matches the Maverick in. Sure you can get off 6 shots way quicker than with a Nitefinder, but by the time you reload the whole turret, I bet I can get off my 5th-6th shot and be almost ready for the next.
-Availability
The Nitefinder is widely available all over the place, and for a cheap cost. I think Nitefinders over here are right around $7, with Mavericks being more like $10.
Just overall, the Nitefinder seems to win over the Maverick, and so it is the most popular sidearm for Nerfers.
Now, I'm not saying Mavericks are bad, despite other people's opinions. I think there's a place for them, and with proper modification, they can be quite good. Give it a swappable clip, a stronger spring, a more reliable rotating mechanism and some reinforcement. You should probably be able to hit 50' consistently with great rate of fire. Use it for rushing, defending, cover fire, etc. and it can be prove to be quite useful.

A maverick, properly modded, is like an ex. Sometimes it'll try to help, but you'll end up with shitty results. A NiteFinder, properly modded, is like the perfect little whore that's always ready to go.

Yeah, Slug mentioned burts ROF and sustained ROF. A Magstrike has a high burst ROF, where as something like the AT3K or LS has a decent sustained ROF.
