On suggestion from Captain Slug I bought some springs to make some spring-powered guns. Now I have the system in order, but I'm afraid of one thing. The springs I'm using are pretty stong springs and I am wondering how much weight pins in, for example, Carbon and BS's guns can hold back. My other question is what materials should I use for the pin (and for that matter, the rest of the trigger system)?

I've never used anything fancier than a nail, and the only time I've had a problem is when I dropped a gun on the charging handle when it was cocked. I wouldn't worry about needing anything heavier. If your spring is so strong that you need a heavier firing pin, it's probably not going to comfortable to cock by hand, anyway.

Yeah, a typical steel nail is quite a bit stronger than the 1/4" thick polycarbonate I'm using for my trigger plate.
Just make sure what you're holding back with the nail is strong too.

Nails work, but I'd prefer 1/8" piano wire, just because you can make a more complex shape out of it, and you can extend the trigger mechanism. Don't worry about that stuff breaking. I can barely cut it with wire cutters... and man my hands hurt afterwards.
