I'll begin by saying this is not shameless self promotion. Maybe a little, but not the intent. I honestly want opinions.

A few months ago, some friends of mine in the NC area began recording our NERF gun fights. After a bit of thinking, I decided to put the stuff online, in the form of a television series.

I would like the good people of this site to check it out and tell me what you think. Please, feel free to let me know what's up, and how you think we might improve. Thank you.

The two episodes that are online now are both located at www.YouTube.com, search for Way Of The Gun Online Series.

P.S.: I know that not all our weapons are NERF, but the majority are. We use what we got.

Thank you for your time.

I think he's talking about this:

But go ahead and search for 'the way of the gun' anyway. Watching Sarah Silverman get punched in the face is substantially more entertaining.

Well that was the highlight of the video now wasn't it?

Maybe it would be more interesting if you modified the gu

Overall not terrible.

I like the idea but I wasn't a big fan of the sword fight. Heavier modified Nerf guns would be more entertaining. I loved the beginning though.

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

I used to like making little movies with my friends in high school too; usually they're only enjoyable for the people who were actually in them.

If you want to make something everyone can enjoy, you'll have to make it both more interesting and more realistic. It has no real plot. Why is this person going on the gauntlet? What is the purpose of the gauntlet in the first place? The battles need to be better also. Have different camera angles so the viewer can actually tell what is going on; not everything needs to be real time. Have a view from in front of your warrior shooting towards the camera. Then switch views to a close up of his opponent getting shot perhaps. Experiment with picking good angles to evoke a sense of realism. Nobody really stands 10 feet from each other, shoots, reloads, and repeats.

The sword fight could be a lot better too. It was very cheesy and unrealistic. The warrior jumping up and off of the sides of the bridge was pointless. If you want to get fancy, coreograph (sp) it at least a little before hand. Also, if someone got stabbed in the leg, I doubt the would hop on the other leg and hold their wounded leg in the air.

It's things like that which makes your movie scream, "My friends and I got together and made this movie in 15 minutes." If you want to make a better product, put in more effort. When trying to make a good movie, my friend and I would write out full movie scripts, plan each camera angle carefully, wear basic costumes, experiment with simple special effects (blood, small explosions, etc.), and retake a scene as many times as we needed to in order to get it right. We were only in junior high at the time, but I remember the movies turning out decent. You need to do similar things in order to have a series people other than your friends will enjoy.

Hope you found this helpful.

You don't know how hard it is to find creative criticism these days. Thank you for your thoughts.

We are beginning to put in various plot elements. The first episode was mainly a test to see if we could do anything. And I'll be honest, the first time I watched it, I said to myself: "Well, I can only get better."

The second episode is also on YouTube. I know that having to watch all three videos for one episode can be a pain, but bear with me, we've just begun. The second episode has the beginnings of plot and other elements, like better editing and what might eventually be acting.

I have yet to begin modifiying guns yet, but don't worry. That will happen.

Again, thanks for the feedback!
