We've given you plenty of well thought out reasons. And the what you did to us thing means that you had to come all up in here talking about paintball and stuff and well, nevermind. I was already in a bad mood today because of stuff and when someone said that paintball is better than nerf and we need to get a life just didn't help any. First off, stop flaming. It's pretty obvious that nothing we say is possibly going to change his opinion.

Second, Nerfing does not make us "gay". Matter of fact, the only thing that determines your sexual orientation is the chemical makeup in your brain. But that's besides the point. I think you're getting a bit confused here, nerfisgreat01. People don't Nerf because we want a realistic war-game. That's for Airsoft and Paintball to handle. We play with Nerf guns because it is a small, unique hobby. And, like Janga said, it's pretty cool to mess around with something in order to make it better.

Third, there is no way that you, nerfisgreat01, are possibly going to change our opinions. You'll probably have a deleted account by the end of the day. But you probably already knew that.

Fourth, you obviously have done little (if any) research on this subject. Like most trolls such as yourself, you come thinking that Nerf guns are little toys that shoot no more than 20 feet. That's true. But, like many members have said, a brass-modified SuperMaxx 5000 is capable of shooting over 120 feet. And personally, I have paintballed before, and I think getting hit with a capsule of paint is much less paintful than getting hit with a point of hard glue...that doesn't explode on contact.

Finally, there is no reason you have to try to convince us to "convert". There is no reason for this rivalry between Nerf and paintball.

Oh yeah, your comment about darts is interesting. They are about 2 cents each. So you don't really have to pick them up. I'm not sure this topic should be closed, its turning into a rather interesting "How long can we hold our tempers" thread.

nerfisgreat01, thanks for trying to hold a conversation whilst fending off your attackers. The problem is that, you joined in on a topic right after someone who wasn't as interested as you are in holding an intelligent discussion on the matter had just gotten banned for being a prick. That being said, everyone's tensions were already high.


I have paintballed before, and played with some airsoft guns a little. If I had a fatter wallet, I would probably go buy a nice paintball gun and go to the Splatball course with some friends. However, as college students, we don't have that pleasure. Good weapons cost alot of money, not to mention the seemingly constant need for more ammunition.

I like the heat of combat, and I'm sure you understand from the things you have experienced that close combat can be just as adrenaline-pumping (if not more so) than long distance exchanges of fire. Also, the range of most nerf guns is more conducive to the kind of battles that you would be able to have in parks or even neighborhoods; in other words- you don't have to go to the paintball range just to enjoy your weapons.

When I was in High School, I knew less about modifying nerf guns than you did. I still had the black elastics on my Bow and Arrow, and I would NEVER think of using plumber's tubing like PVC to fire nerf darts with. But, I still had a hell of a lot of fun, having 8 man wars in my basement with bases and forts. It wasn't the sort of thing we could do outside, but inside it was a good way to spend an afternoon.

Nerf didn't become such a big hobby of mine until I learned about modifying nerf guns on the internet. The fact that I could take a Nerf SuperMaxx 750, a 1/2" PVC coupler, some 1/2" PVC tubing, and a bead of hot glue and turn it into a harbringer of stinging death, on my own, in my very basement, really interested me. It's fun to shoot your friends with guns, but even more fun if those guns were your projects that you thought up cool ways to improve.


nerfisgreat01, what nerf guns do you have? If you want, you can post a topic on how to mod them. Maybe once you've experimented with modification you will understand. If not, no big deal. Maybe we'll see you out there in the paintball arena. Or maybe, just maybe, you'll catch the nerfing 'bug' and we'll see ya at the next 30 man nerf war.

I'm not trying to diss you, but I miust point out that your estimate 15$ for 500 paintballs, equals your estimate of 3$ for 100 nerf darts (3x5= 15$) So for 15$ you can make 500 darts, according to you. Making you statement surprisingly redundant.

Haha. That's okay... What I meant was that you can make more than 100: like 120 (in some cases) for $3. Or you can buy FBR off the internet for much cheaper and make like 500 for $3 or something . But either way u can't make paintballs and I think thats pretty cool and plus, you don't shoot 1000 or 500 darts in one day, but in paintball you do shoot at least 500 or 1000 paintballs a day. And you can't go pick up your paintballs and shoot them again and again and again like nerf. But either way, you are right and thanks for pointing that out.

I do get your point man, and you make a good one. Darts are expendable, yet reusable, and paintballs are not. Paintballs cost more, can't be mass produced, or made on demand. They can't be customized, and they explode un-expectantly in your hands after you hold them too long. ALSO if they remain outside a hopper for too long, they expand because of heat, and will not fit through the barrel.

That's my contribution to this arguement... and remember, I knew what you meant anyways man, just sorta cleared it up.
