So, FA24 lives near me, and I figured that if I didn't post a write-up soon I'd be beaten to death by him. Here it is, the 1st Scorpion Bow mod on NH.

Posted Image

That's what it looks like out of the box. I was really surprised to see that it wasn't a complete rip off of the 3B. Instead of pushing the front of the gun foreword, you pull that handle just below the scope to cock it.

Anyways, get rid of all the useless stuff and open it up (don't forget the screw under the "Airzone" sticker).

Internals

Posted Image

Close up on the trigger mech.

Posted Image

What you want to do now is take out the plunger tube and pull it apart. These air restrictors should come out with little force.

Posted Image

Keep the two circle ones and throw the big long one away.

Now make them look like these two in the picture.

Posted Image

This is where the mod gets kinda confusing, but I'll try my best to explain.

Cut about 1cm off the top of the stock barrel so your barrel of choice has better stability, then push said barrel down the stock barrel. Remember those two air restrictors that I told you to keep? Put the one on the right down the top of the plunger tube like you would with a 3B, then put the one on the left down, only this time flipped upside down. Glue like crazy in the 3 cracks so you fill up all the dead space. It should look like this.

Posted Image

While the plunger tube is still in two, wrap some E tape around the plunger head and lube it up (I couldn't do this to mine 'cause I've been out of it since October), and add a Mav spring or two (every little bit counts).

Put it all back together and you should have one very nice primary.

I get ranges in the mid 70s, but mine isn't airtight, and although the weather is pretty nice here, it's still colder than spring or summer, so that also affects the range.

To finish off, here's some random pictures of the gun.

Questions or comments?

I'll post a video when I figure out how to take one on my camera...

EDIT: Teehee. Photobucket isn't being mean anymore. I'm currently converting all the pictures.

Can we get some pictures of the gun cocked?

Don't want to shove balls in tight spaces. Trust me, bad idea.

Sorry, I didn't explain right. It's like a Maverick, you cock it, and then it returns to it's normal position.

Woah...photobucket is crapping out on me. I tried to resize them, but they didn't change. Sorry guys, I have to eat dinner, but after that I'll find out the problem and resize them.

If it slides back into place after it locks the plunger in place it wouldn't be hard to create a mag system. I think it would work better then the one Bacon and FA did for their 3b's. Its nice to know these things have good internals I have been toying with getting one for a while now.

I mod nerf guns so they look good. So leave my scopes, doodads, and trinkets alone I like them. I don't mind the weight and I started out that way on toy guns and its not going to change.

I didn't even think of that Z-man. I have a gift card for Home Depot, so I may just get some supplies and try it.

Sorry I haven't given you any updates about my motorized Buzz Saw. I haven't made much progress.

Wow, getting mid 70's range with a practically no-name brand gun is very good, so good job. I bet it could get better ranges with a full spring replacement and reinforcement rather than just adding a Maverick spring. Hopefully FA24 will threaten you to, in the words of OMC "Pull your own arms off and beat you to death with them." unless you do one write-up a week. It may not be fair, but nobody will be complaining except you that there's more write-ups around.

EDIT: Question: Relative to the BBB's plunger, how big is the plunger in this gun?

When speaking about a swallow, always make sure you know whether it is an African or European swallow. It is very important.

I was in Tru a couple days ago and was looking at this, I thought it was like a bow, you pull it back and release. I am pretty sure I will be able to get one of these later oin this week. Nice mod btw. ^_^

Question: Relative to the BBB's plunger, how big is the plunger in this gun?

BBB compared to SB (new acronym perhaps?).
Posted Image

BBB top SB bottom.
Posted Image

Hrm... I forget which one is which, but they're the same size spring.
Posted Image

Dang. Apperently my resizing is only temporary. Sigh. More trying to resize on Photobucket ;) .

EDIT: Okay guys, I have to upload every single one of my pictures that have to do with Nerf guns again, and then resize them. It will take a long time. I'm starting with this thread.

Hey Pingu, is the plunger tube on the SB slimmer than the BBBs? It looks like that to me. And it's also longer, right?

Good work and thanks for clearing up the function of the gun. This thing may have more potential than the ABBB.

As far as physically harming someone. I could only do that to dumb people, like really dumb people. Like the kind that actually listen to Pop music and have a "Greater than thou" attitude.

I didn't check the circumference of it, but the picture seems to be indicating so. And yes, it's longer than the 3B's.

Just a quick update for everyone. About an hour ago I stuffed the SB with lots a FBR (the gun is pretty much a plunger and dead space), and man is it silent. Not quite blow gun silent, but it's getting there.

As far as physically harming someone. I could only do that to dumb people, like really dumb people. Like the kind that actually listen to Pop music and have a "Greater than thou" attitude.

I prefer to mentally hurt people, but not just to stupid and annoying people. I like to spread my meanness around to all the human race!

On a semi on topic note, the stock ranges on this thing were hilarious. It advertised 40 feet. My lowest shot was 12, and my highest was 27. Plus the accurate range is like 7 feet. And even that's pushing it.

I guess you have some heavy duty industrial strength toilet paper holders. Do they advise you to wear eye protection when changing rolls?

Oh my god, he's coming for me!

Would you say that this is better than a BBB? Could you, perhaps, make a short comparison?

*Lightbulb*

I'll add that to the Wiki soon. For now just wonder about it.

Okay joking. When you are posting, or when you are doing a full edit, their is a toolbar above your text with several buttons on it. Before clicking a button, open a second web browser and go to the web page you want to name. I'll do Nerfhaven . After you are at the desired web page, copy the Http link to the web page by first highlighting it with your cursor, right clicking it, and then selecting copy.

Next, go back to your post and click the globe-like icon. If a new window doesn't appear, make sure your computer allows scripted windows.

If it does, right click the text box provided and select paste. Then, click okay.

Finally, in the next step, type in what you want to name the link. Then hit okay again.

I'll add a more precise description to the NMG when I have a little more time later today.

Comfort wise, definitely not. The handle is a bit more awkward to hold than the BBB's. Performance wise as of right now, about the same, but after I make it airtight it'll be better. To give you an idea of the size I have some pictures on the front page comparing the major parts to the BBB's.
