I'm considering spending <$200 on a scrollsaw, preferably <$150. What features or models should I be looking for? Any specific recommendations?

I'm not sure how much it is though. Most likely over your budget. It's still a suggestion.

I bought a Ryobi one at my local Home Depot for $99 and I've been using it for 3 years now with no problems. THE most vital feature to look for is that the scroll saw accepts "pin end" blades instead of just "plain end" because the pin-end type are waaaaay easier to disconnect and reconnect when you need to feed the blade through a drilled pilot hole.

Check to see if your nearest Lowes has this model, then go to the store and make sure it can use "pin end" blades

It looks like it should support them.

And you will also need some kind of table you can bolt the scroll saw to because they will walk away from you if you don't.

Thanks. I was worried about that one because I'm suspicious of low-end power tools, but if it works for you, it'll certainly work for me. ^_^
