So the other day I was sitting around and saw the front "pistol" from the longshot. So I decided to use it for something.
I know what alot of you are saying "Where will I get another door stop?" or "My coffee table has never been leveler"
But for the rest of you here is what i did with it.

First I opened that bad boy up.

As you can see it is the same set up for the Scout. If you have any desire to mod it further then I say just put a better spring in there and do a barrel replacement.

So now I have to cut it down since there is no point to keeping it that large.
Posted Image

Cut along red lines and keep the bottom right section. I am sure you all realize this but lets not take a chance.

Now we drill out the barrel post and negate the AR
Posted Image

It now shoots about 20ft accurately.
Now you need to modify the trigger mechanism

Posted Image

I cut down the long part that would go to the handle and drilled a hole in it so that string or cord can be run through it.

Posted Image

Final product. It cocks just like the regular pistol and now shoots 20ft easy. Figure out the best way to strap it to something and run the string
Posted Image
to whatever you want.

I would caution you to NOT use fishing line unless the end not attached to the gun has a release after enough pressure is asserted. If you have the end opposite to the gun hold then it is more likely that the end attached to the gun will pull and break what you had put so much (about 30min) of effort into.

There you all have it, your very own trap.

If you were doing this for usefulness, I would have just cut off the top part.

Wow. That is a really good idea. Makes it really compact.

EDIT: Missed the last bit... I wonderd why the title didn't make sense XD. Nice idea for a trap though, as there isn't much use for this gun other than that (and putting on the LS istself, like i said)

Good pics, best write-up i've seen for the LS pistol. You could of course stick it (intergrate it to where the bipod would be) to your longshot like alot of people do, it's good for some defense when you're reloading.. My LS is waiting for something better to put on it so if you didn't want a trap, you could of course cut less off and leave the grip on:

What on earth did you use to cut it down? Seems to have made a bit of mess..

Nice clear, pics. And a good mod. I would just leave the grip on so you don't have an annoying cord.

Yah, but this is a trap mod.

I used a Dremel but didn't care about appearance, I am lazy like that unless it will see play.

I like your minimalization, extremely clean and functional. I did have the idea to do that also but the bulkiness of the gun just makes it useless.

Thankyou. Yeah, it's a bit pointless because you can't, for example, fit it in your pocket as a "just in case" side arm like a Scout or maybe a minimized NF. But I figured it would aleast look a little better without all the extra LS barrel stuff. Plus I used the bit that attached the pistol to the LS to make a "silencer".

Nice mod but I dont see how this is a trap. It is just a really minimized front gun. A trap, in my mind, is something that no one will suspect and usually you dont have to do too much except set it up.

With a secure placement you may be able to get away with some kind of trip wire.

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

I could see this getting use, in like Capture the flag. Only problems I see is first mounting it, second disguising it to fit in, and 3rd you'd need a pully if you wanted it to be fired from tripping over it.

You're probably all wondering how to get a range of 95' from a mech 20

I was figuring you threw it.

Ok, now I understand. I might try to get this done for WCNO, if I can figure out how to get it high enough without it standing out too much.

Or you could angle it up...

I could angle it but that would be hard if it were on the ground. For the trip wire to work I would have to set up a pully system somewhere concealable, like a bush. I think I know how to do this but I need to find out where my front gun is. If I find it, then I will try to get my camera working and post up pictures on this thread.

You could attach the tripod to the front for angling.

The way I was thinking of setting this up was against a pole or tree and just attach it by tying drilling holes through it and using fishing line. As for the trip line, just run it around the pole/tree. A tripod would not work so well since unless the tripod is really heavy it will dislodge.

I was picturing this trap like one I did a little over a year ago for Assassins.

Since entering someone's room is legal (if the person is dumb enough to leave it unlocked) under our rules, I duct taped a crappy old gun (no idea what it even is, just some yellow one-shot pistol that shoots those flimsy orange rubber darts with a suction cup at the end--I had to duct-tape the whole thing together to get it to even fire reasonably reliably) to the wall next to the door. Then, to figure out how to fire it?

I needed to make sure it didn't inconvenience people entering and leaving the room too much. So, using a pair of shoelaces, I strung a tripwire across the top of the door, anchored on one side (detachable easily by a clip from a keychain) and running through a hole in the opposite closet door (using that as a pulley essentially) and down to the gun around the trigger, with another bit of string coming from further down the closet so the angle would be right. The result was that when the door was opened, the gun shot. It required a little bit of fiddling, but I got the tension right so that it would hit the outer door handle about 95% of the time. Any hit is a kill, so I could safely leave my door unlocked.

Long story short, that's what I was picturing this gun for--much simpler than what I did.

This video should help if you're having trouble picturing it. (Kindly don't judge me by the somewhat sad assortment of weaponry--I didn't really get into modding until later that year! =D)
