I was thinking, Since there's no easy way to upgrade the Recon spring, or even double spring it, would it be possible to use two expansion springs to simulate the same effect as banding? I was thinking you could anchor the springs to the two halves (one per half) and then to the outer tube. I THINK (please don't quote me on this, I'm almost certain I'm wrong on the numbers), that a Handyman 9717 would work (again, I THINK that one is an expansion, but I'm probably wrong)
What do you guys think? I'd check it myself, and I'd like to be the first to do it, but I don't get back to school until the 13'th, and I have all my good stuff there, not here.

Using expansion springs to achieve the same effect as banding

I had this idea too but the gun would look funny in some kind of industrial joke kind of way.
I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

I meant for them to go on the inside, sorry I didn't clarify before.

It's certainly a thought... I had mine open today working on getting the AR out (which was a bit of a fiasco...) and I was looking around in there. There's a lot less room than you'd think just by looking at it.
I wanted to install a spring that would prime the barrel automatically. As in to get the run ready, stock, you pull the slide back, and push it forward. I wanted to put a spring in such that when you pull the slide back, the spring does the second half, pulling it forward and shoving the dart in place for you. (This is currently a work in progress).
But yeah. We have the same problem: Not much room in there at all.
How big are these extension springs you're talking about?

They're obviously too large by what you've told me, but I'll keep looking for something that fits. I'll report back after a trip to the hardware store.

I believe I've found a pair of springs that will work. I found them at walmart, they're part of a picture hanging device, and they cost about $1.22 for the pair of them. The pic below is them. I'll get home, and see what i can do, and let you guys know.
