Need A Fbr Recommendation

Also, might it help to have a "FBR directory"?

I'm using the same 5/8 OD / .527 ID aluminium tubing as CaptainSlug. I'm told it has almost exactly the same ID as his PETG. I was originally counting on FSA's red stuff, but he sold out right before I was ready to order. ^_^;. Does anyone know of another FBR that would be appropriate for that barrel size? I'm making CaptainSlug's felt/washer stefans if it's relevant.

On a related note, it seems to me that it might be helpful to have a reference thread for just such questions, with a chart of currently-available FBR, what it works in, and a summary of its qualities. I don't think I'd be qualified to do it myself, but someone else might. Just an idea.

He doesn't get on anymore, but he might answer an email.

I'm pretty sure just regular 1/2" FBR will work for you. I use FrostKing's FBR in 9/16 brass, which is 0.5625, very close to the ID you've got. If you go to your hardware store they'll know it as poly-foam caulk-saver.

I have some grey frost king that is tight in 17/32 brass. I also have some that is black and loose in 17/32. Both are labeled 1/2" and made by frost king. I bought the grey stuff, but I found the black stuff in my parent's garage.

Is 1/2 inch FBR the same size as stock darts?

1/2 FBR varies greatly in size from brand-to-brand. It also varies bag-to-bag for that matter.

Around me, all my Home Depot's have Frost King, and none of my Lowe's have FBR. My ACE Hardware store has FBR as well.

The ACE stuff is loose, fits well in 17/32 Brass and CPVC. It has a hard time fitting in PETG, and 9/16, it's too loose.

WldWorld/FA_24's foam is a bit bigger than ACE. It doesn't fit well in CPVC, but it fits well in 17/32 brass, 9/16 brass, and some PETG.

Frost King(Home Depot) is huge. It fits well in OMC's thin-wall PETG and it squezes into his medium-wall PETG, but it works fine. It can work in 9/16 brass if you are using a high-powered gun, but 17/32 is pretty much out of the question.

Well, you can't use stefans in stock guns, so, that settles that.

There are (at least) three distinct sizes of Frost King FBR; a light gray, a dark, blackish gray, and another light gray (lighter than the other one, I think.)
At least, those are the 3 I have used before I switched to Angel's red FBR.
The lightest gray Frost King FBR will fit tightly in stock barrels (assuming you removed the peg/ARs). It's quite a bit thicker than stock darts. When I used it, I had 9/16" brass for springers and 19/32" brass with 9/16" nested in the back for air guns.
