I once got a modded NF from ebay, from the US, with a industrial spring in it. Now weather it is a Ace #49 spring, I could not tell you. But since most people use that spring in NF's I can only asume it is. And that thing has been fired blank, tossed around, droped, sprayed, sprayed agian (I could go on...) and is now about 2 years old, and is as it was new. So I'd just do it eitherway.

It has not broken.
The o-ring occasionally pops off, but that's an easy fix.
Without a stronger catch spring, my blaster would fire randomly as I ran around.
It becomes noticably harder to cock.

If you completely reinforce the internals with epoxy, sheet metal, stronger catch, and longer screws, it should be fine.
Where am I too find a stronger catch spring?

note: While holding the spring and lighting it may seem stupid, it really doesn't get hot anywhere other than where it's being burned.

This is important though, really important, if you want to significantly reduce the chance of your gun misfiring sand down these two ridges until they are flush:

I believe they come in packets of six and I cut them in thirds.
You want your spring to have the same length and width as stock, just have a heavier gauge wire.
You can shave or sand the nub the spring rests on a little bit without doing any damage to the structural integrity of the frame.
