Does it have open flame?
Does it make a hissing and clicking noise when you turn it on?
If so then it is gas.

Yes it is open flame, and it does occasionally make that sort of sound, so it is gas. Thanks.

I picked up a recon several days ago and successfully removed the air restrictor.

First, I cut the bolt in half using a hand saw (I cut at the joint about 1 in in front of the air restrictor). This allows you to get closer to the air restrictor and hack at it better with whatever tool you're using to pull it out.
Next, I used a variety of tools including mini-screwdrivers and needle-nosed pliers to tear and break the air restrictor. When it was broken up enough, I pulled it out with needle-nosed pliers. (This process took a good thirty minutes and was a pain in the ass).
Finally, I used super glue to attach the bolt back together, and then epoxy over it to strengthen the bond.

After removing the air restrictor and stretching the spring and extra inch, I found that it shot roughly as far and hard as a stock longshot.

At least it's usable now!

After searching Lowes, Home Depot, and Ace Hardware, I still have not found a spring of similar size that I could use to supplement or replace the stock spring, unfortunately.

How did you get the screws under the slide loosened? I have a right angle screwdriver, but can't get enough leverage to actually turn the screws.

I broke it apart by twisting, and the ars just fell out, I then used plumbers goop to seal it.

A good spring is the one from the 12 shot shoty, it must be cut-down though.

Don't want to shove balls in tight spaces. Trust me, bad idea.

For sale: Vintage WWII French rifles. Dropped once, never fired.

You don't have to take the bolt apart to get the air restrictor out.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

And when i do finally get it in without disaster rearing its ugly head, i cant fit the other half of the shell on before it falls apart again! Please help me Umdlancer, your my only hope! ^_^

Its too bad that the AR's are such a bitch to remove. It took me two hours to take them out with my limited supplies.

Try only threading the main spring around the plunger tube a few times, and have most of it sticking out. Then after you've got a few screws in place, screw the spring into the case. This makes it a lot easier to get back together.

It's possible to unscrew it by dremmelling a small hole in one side of the slide next to the screw to get a better angle. That worked like a charm because then that side comes off and you can reach the other right through the track.

Yup. Just drill. The AR is in there very tight, so you should'nt have any problems. And by the way, this thread is kind of old, about three and a half months old. You only want to revive a thread that is three weeks, maybe a month old.

It's not like that. I put lube on it and its the same. Its just stuck. And when I cock it back it goes farther back then usual. Also I push as hard as I can and it wont go back in. I've tried the methods and they wont work. Also pics are up.

Christian, dont necro threads. Necroing threads is when you revive a post from very long ago. So check your dates, and i know your name because its john. Anyway, read the Code of conduct located at the top right corner of the screen, and make sure to strictly follow it. Enjoy your stay and dont get banned.

Well I was wondering how I can get the hot glue to stay outside of that hole you need to plug instead of getting inside, or will that cause problems if the glue gets inside?
