I have a bunch of 2k tanks and I've been working with them for a LONG time. I still haven;t figured out how it exactly works. As I do my work by trial and error..

So here is what I figured would have a shot at being functional. Frost, I borrowed your picture. THANKS

So what I did was saw off The goo tube. I realized that the orange plastic was obviously still inside the white openning. So I decided to saw off the whole white connector piece. The picture shows what I have now( the circled part).

So I took a bike pump and tubing and hooked them up and put a bunch of plumbers Goop, let it dry airrtight.

So I pump and there's a ton of resistance. But the 2k tank Won't fill up. Everthing's airtight, no air is escaping.

So did I cut off a valve?

What should I do?

Thanks

Acting on the instinct that this works on the principle of a spring pushing a gasket onto the opening at the front, you did nothing wrong, and I suppose that the volume inside is just to small to fill with a pump that large... Don't ask me why, I've tried it with a small airtaink before. It doesn't work.

You should just use a smaller pump.

OK thanks for some input. So do you think it's worth a shot with like a stock 2k pump?( just change the pump?)

It's the bike pump. There's no one-way valve on it.

Most all bike pumps are simple air pumps, with air going into a Schrader or Presta valve, or in the case of a ball pump, into a needle, in which the inlet on the ball acts as a one-way.

You can do one of two things;

1) Get a stock 2k pump back on there; you know the one-way is built into it.

2) Get a Schrader valve and somehow, someway, integrate it into your 2k valve. That is tough to do, considering the 2k tank's small size.

3) Make a small reservoir tank out of 1 1/2" PVC, and endcaps, and adapt a Schrader valve to it, then run a line from the reservoir to the 2k airtank.

All things considered, #1 is the easiest.

Good luck!

I plumbers gooped this thing for 2 days straight, and waited for it to dry and there's still air leaking somewhere. I don't understand it, I've put so much goop!

If it doesn't work tomorrow, I'll get some pics up.

I think it would be REALLY REALLY helpful if someone could create a writeup on how to remove the goo gauge SIMPLY from the 2k. I would of I knew how....

I'll give the update tomorrow.

I completely forgot about your writeup... I might as well do that whole mod...

Altohugh my 2k internals look the exact same, I don't understand why mine isn't working. I think I'm gonna try this and I'll let ya know.

Check to make sure the firing pin is fully resetting. Because thats the only obvious, or near to obvious thing I see.
We should stop calling out/making fun of/pissing GC off. He's actually contributed and is available for trade. He's a better than average member no doubt. Got your back Cole.
