So there's been a lot of mystery about the Disk Shooting part of the Disk shot, and I got the whole shabam for Christmas, so I figured to let you guys know about it.

To operate the disk shooter, you have to plug it into an outlet, turn it on and listen to the motors roar. Next you take your six included disks and load it into the back of the disk shooter, then you take the wireless remote and point it directly at the disk shooter and press the "launch" button (to get the best results you stand 8-12 feet away from it). The disk shooter has two height settings; high and low. The low gets up to 7 feet off the ground, and the high gets up to 9 feet off the ground. So now you're thinking; okay that's cool, I'll just put it on its side and press the launch button when a person comes around the corner. Too bad that's only a thought. The disk shooter has to be standing up completely straight, or it will automatically turn off its motors.

Overall, if you want a cooler version of a tech target, buy the whole system, but if you want something to make into a remote mine, then be prepared to spend a lot of time, money, and frustration trying to mod the thing.

Questions or comments?

I'll try to get some pictures up tommorow (or today if I'm in a good mood).

I happen to have

the whole shabam

also. It is what brought me back into nerf, actually. I picked it up at a toy store after not having touched a nerf gun for years, and then i got back in because I saw it.

You can actually tip it on it's side and have it operate without even opening it up. The way it senses if it's perfectly straight up and down is a little button on the bottom. You only have to put tape over it to make it think it's upright. Here's a picture

if you tape it down to the rest of the disc shot, i'll work perfectly no matter what angle it's pointing.
I wonder if you could make it quieter?

You're probably all wondering how to get a range of 95' from a mech 20

I was figuring you threw it.

I didn't even notice that little thing. I may just open it up now and take the delay off of it. Thanks for that.

Yeah, I got it too. I opened it up and taped that thing. I'm going to up the batteries to lithium 9volts if I could find them. Also, I put a TTG spring in mine and it shoots 60 consistently.

I'll post back if I can mod it more.

I've been away for a little while and haven't seen many reviews about the disk shot. How fast does it shoot the discs? Does it work well, or is it more of a gimmick?

Mine's not like that. I got one too and even with the button pushed, it senses that it's on its side. As I suggested in the first "Disk Shot" thread, to use this as a mine so that it shoots out like penguin said, is probably its only combat-capable function. The noise I think can only be lessen by foam insulator. Also, I think making the motors spin faster would create both a greater challenge and range of this potential mine.

They make some jump-start kits with an AC outlet on them. So... instead of configuring it for batteries (which is an excellent idea by the way), you can just take the easy route. They both will be big and yellow however, you can hook up more than one this way.

Its pretty fun. But you will get bored with it shooting it with stock guns unless your 5 feet away. I stand like 30 feet away and use modded guns but I still hit it like 10% of the time. Too bad my basement is 7 feet tall. It hits the ceiling half the time. So I use it outside with a huge extension cord.

Actually, mine doesn't shoot now. I took it out of the package, and shoot 1, put it away, went back later today, and it wouldn't shoot at all. Broken POS. I'll use it as a airsoft target like the TTG board anyways...

It has a 3-4 second delay from the time you press the launch button to the time it shoots the disk up. It’s pretty fun, but like I said, only get it if you want more intense target practice or if you're really good with electronics and plan to mod it.

Does that little knoby thing work on carpet? Because i have a couple of devices that have that on the bottom, but they dont work on carpet unless you slide something under the knoby thing.

It's the same thing. You have to put a book or cardboard under the switch.

Yeah, I just slid a DVD case underneath it and it worked fine. I have no idea how i'm going to get rid of the delay. WTB Electrical Engineer!

EDIT: Oh, sorry, Kanaki, I didn't see your post.
