no ranges yet. I'm pretty much busy for the rest of the day since it's christmas eve. Internal pics probably will be taken later tonight since that is the only time I'll have to dissect this monster. Sorry to keep you guys waiting.

Also, how do I get this topic switched over to general?

What's the orange thing on the side of the stock?

It is either the magazine or the plunger.(I have a feeling it is part of the plunger)

I'm surprised to see how small it is. I could easily fit it into cargos. Could make a nice SMG like sidearm. Unless there is some illusion in the photo i'm unaware of.

I wanna know wether or not i would need a dremel for the restrictors.

Lynx: Uh huh.........

I meant in the first pic, there is an orange nub/button that looks like a possible stock lock.

Um... Is there any possible reason that the last 3 posts I tried to make didn't go through?

And yes, it is a slide lock, keeps it on there nice and tight so it doesn't fall off.

How about a shot with the breech in the open position?

Excellent first post, by the way.

Looks like it uses exactly the same inverted plunger style as the Mav, Scout, Crossfire, etc. Lame.

Thanks for the pictures.

Yeah, looking at the pics does not enthuse me ... but I'll still have to buy one, just so I can paint it like...Pink or something.

I highly doubt they'd put an arm to indicate that it's cocked on an inverted plunger

Great first post!

That looks like it could be decent, the crossfire has decent ranges and the plunger is smaller than that.

Was somthing taken out, or is that huge empty space just there, the one on the bottom-left corner of the gun. Wouldn't that be a great spot for an integration? Also the handle is empty, you could put some extra ammo in there...

Um... That would be where the clip would go...

I mod nerf guns so they look good. So leave my scopes, doodads, and trinkets alone I like them. I don't mind the weight and I started out that way on toy guns and its not going to change.

I got my recon at 12:00 last night and after messing around with it was a little dissapointed. The base design IS practally the longshot. The differences are:
1) Plunger tube is smaller as far as I can tell and the spring is on the outside(thanks new guy). I plan to shove whatever the frick springs I can in there.
2) This is a fire from the hip weapon without the attachments. You can't really "look down the sight as with the longshot.
3) It is all condensed into a pistol like weapon. The bolt and everything is the same.
4) Everything is pretty much smaller in length in general.
5) All the other small differences. Like the orange clip, back stock, less screws, etc. These don't really interfere with modding.
So yeah, basically the same setup as the longshot, only with a $20 price tag. I plan to buy another one of these asap and mod it to. I kinda fell like an Angel Breech would fit here...

Oh, and I'm kind of in El Paso right now so no pics for you. If you want the basic design, open up your longshot.

Well, i'm not getting a recon. If it had a regular plunger, i could be good. But, over 95% of inverted plungers have at most secondary ranges. And, the gun is to big to be a conventional side arm. Even if you have cargos. I wonder if you can minimize it even more. Then it may make a decent side arm.

Yay! The recon was all hype! :P
Well, seeing that the plunger looks hopeless from all angles; if I would try to get a NF pluger mod to go in there somewhere it might not be so bad. Trying to replace the spring looks an ass. Yes, putting a NF plunger on something with space like that seems klike an ass too. I know it seems a bit impossible but hell at least its not as expensive to mess up as it is for a Longshot.

If someone could check and see if doing this isn't all impossible would be nice. :D

It looks like the NF plunger assembly will fit in there. One would have to cut down the part of the breech that pushes the Recon plunger back. Rig up a shaftless NF plunger, and you'd have quite the compact pistol.

What do you mean shaftless? I wasn't gonna keep the grey slide cocking mecanism. I was just thinking of having the plunger end sticking out of the recon like a regular Nitefinder. I hope I could accomplish this before anyone else. if anyone does, its was my idea first!!

If you ditch the gray slide, how will you operate the breech?

The idea behind a shaftless plunger is to have a plunger of minimum size so that it only extends beyond the plunger tube when the gun is cocked. This is really only possible in guns like the Longshot or some homemades, including BoltSniper's and others, where the plunger is pushed back by the action of the bolt instead of being pulled out the back of the gun. Check out BS's writeup on the BS-9 .

The two biggest problems are that the plunger may rotate so that a NF style catch face might not always be in the correct position, and that the plunger head may tilt as it is moving forward creating a poor seal or worse.

If I were making a Nitecon, I'd start by leaving the NF plunger intact, as well as the gray slide.

Yeah I see what you mean. You know we can be quite a team in making the first Nitecon. Althoug I think Rec-Finder sounds better.
