Hello Fellow Nerfers!

I sure haven't been active for a while now. I just thought I'd check in and see how everyone is doing. I haven't been online much for a while as I am in Norway with my family 24/7 for all of Christmas, and we don't have very good internet connections. I've gotten myself a Macbook, as an early Christmas present, and using it i've found another great hobby. When the weather isn't great, and I have no nerf guns to modify, what do I do? THIS. Stop motion animation. I use a program called iStopMotion to get the pictures, and iMovie to edit the string of pictures into a short movie. I'm not very good yet, but i really enjoy it. Does anybody else do any animation like this? What do you think? Anyways, hope to be a little more active in the future when I get back to the states.

Thats pretty cool...Where did you get the software? Couldn't you just use a camera and a really fast slideshow?

You can get it off of HERE (that where I got it). You could just play a bunch of pictures as a slideshow, but it's a pain and iStopMotion makes it so much easier, and iStopMotion also has special effects like onion-skinning and chroma keying. If you have any more questions PM me.

Wow, I thought you got lost in a timevortex or somethin.

It is always easier to use a webcam. I don't have experience with this stuff, but the good looking videos use it. Its better in the longrun. I still prefer flash. If you convert it to a flash document, it is easier to submit to sites.

Yeah, I did a stop motion animation once. It was cool, except it was with us 2 gangs, and I was the first to die. :(

I've done stop-motion with LEGO's. My program of choice is MonkeyJam, but I think it's a PC-based program.

As far as the camera goes, I have a Canon Elura 100 Mini-DV camcorder and I LOVE it.

I wanted an Elura, we use them in our video production class at school. I wanted one until I dropped one and broke it, and saw how expensive they are. So I settled with a Canon ZR 8something, the blue one with the external mic jack. My first project actually was a stop motion LEGO project, with a partner for my video production class, but we had no idea how to do it, and it was a lot harder considering we didn't have any programs to guide us. We ended up filming the legos for about a second with the Elura's, and then shortening the clips during post production. It sucked. So yea.

Ultra90, I actually used the iSight webcam that's on the Macbook to film my orange video. That's why you occasionally saw shadows of me and my brother, we didn't have very much space to work with.

Nerfturtle, Yes, we do. I can't promise I will be allowed to acutally come, though. My parents are a little protective when it comes to me going with people I met on the internet, to be playing a sport that is "potentially dangerous." Don't be surprised when I can't come unless we use stefans with pillows glued to the fronts, and coke bottle glasses, and I have a GPS tracker strapped onto my chest.

That's what I did the first time, but now I just hook it up to the CP and capture each frame as opposed to work on shortening them all in post-production. By the way, I use Magix Movie Edit Pro 11 for all my post-producing. What program do you use?

We have macs at my school, so iMovie. I still use it, as well as Sony Vegas now. iMovie '08 sucked, and I'm downgrading to iMovie HD 6 right now.

I have made 3 movies so far. I made shorts on part of the iliad, the boston massacre, and a music video for taxman by by Beatles.
They were shot with legos and constructed with windows movie maker. There are alot fewer fps than this, but I made them in a night apiece.

Does posting in agreement somehow validate your standing in the community? Personally I think it just makes you look like a tool.
