The main fires are not more than 20-25 miles away from my house, we haven't been evacuated. There was a fire about 10 miles away in a huge track home place, they evacuated everyone, all the kids who lived there at school today got pulled out of class. They're all fine though, no homes lost. Friends of friend's houses have burned to the ground, but none of my close friends have been evacuated. Alot of people can see the fires from their homes, and a friend in San Diego was almost evacuated. We live in an adobe house, and there are well-watered, green avocado groves all around, so we're not too worried. The only way for our house to catch fire would be the eaves then the roof, so even if there was fire we'd just water the eaves. The grove's being heavily irrigated as a result of the drought too, so we're not too worried at all. Smoke's died down a bit, it was horrible at school though. We didn't even dress out for cross-country today, so I left early, and we don't have school tommorow and probably not on Wed either because the air quality is so poor. We get a couple holidays, but they're not worth all the homes and lives lost. Thanks for the concern, but we're all okay 'round here...so far. I'll keep you guys posted.

Where in the Cal do you live?

Uh, it's really scary out right now...the fire started in Simi Valley, moved to Northridge, then Porter Ranch, now Chatsworth, I'm next up on the list.

It's not pleasant. I don't know how much longer my house is going to last. When I go outside it's hard to breathe because the layer of smoke is so thick.

The flames are 4 miles away from my house.

I live in north San Diego county. Bonsall/Vista/Escondido area. Four miles? Jesus, hope everything is okay. The smoke is very visable outside, I walked out and there was just smoke everywhere. I don't think I'll be going outside at all today.

Edit: Smoke's getting worse. This is just...PEACHY! They're probably going to turn off the water soon so they can have more pressure, I should go shower.

I live in huntington beach, which is about 100 miles away from either one of the fire locations. But I still have to suffer the wrath of the smoke via the santa ana winds.

I'm okay. The fires eventually came closer, about 3 miles away, to the point where people in my area (Northride, Porter Ranch, etc.) were given the choice to voluntarily evacuate. At some points, it became mandatory, but that never escalated to my neighborhood.

Luckily, the winds have died down today, and the temperature is much cooler. The fire fighters have much more control, and the fire is turning away from where I live. It still sucks, it's hard to breathe out, and those bastards in P.E. class made us run a mile...they must be insane. Dozens of schools are cancelled due to pollution, but those retard coaches at my school, 3 miles away from the fires, make us run a mile in 10 mintues or less and play soccer. Dumbasses.

I still feel bad for all those who lost their houses (and their lives). One woman lost 12 animals. The school is very...empty. Very eerie. I'm looking out the window as I type, and the sky is a different color from which I've ever seen. Not blue, or black, but...smoke. Pure, smoke. Freaky. It's like a dark, dark shade of gray. I hope they get these fires cleared up.

All of the news stations are based around detroit, so all of the news headliners are as follows:

"Little (insert child's name here) Was only (age) when he was playing (insert board game name) when he found out the hard way that his brother Slim 'phatty P was involved in a gang, and was shot down with his mother in the drive-by shooting. This is a sad and tradgic stroy. On a lighter note, Gov. Davis has just drunkardly said he will kick ah-nuld's ass. More on this at 11."

I swear it's like a template. And yes, I have ACTUALLY heard our 50 year old newscaster say "Slim 'Phatty P" before on live TV.
