I checked the original topic posted by Matchstick_Man and all of his posts said only "edit" so if anyone knows where I can find plasti dip that would be great. P.S. I checked Lowes, Sears, and Home Depot but they don't have it.

Why post if you dont know?

Plasti-dip can be found in a tools section of most hardware stores and is normally used to dip your tool handles in to make them more comfortable. But check you tool section then ask people if you can't find it.

It's this red stuff you use to make matchstick darts.

...thing happens to mine sometimes, stick your finger in the barrel to make it air tight, then pump a couple times to re-close it... If that doesnt work then you have to open it up and pull the rod back. For me I have to pump 55 and I get a shot that can break through soft wood, consistantly.-rokor

'Tis a valid question asshole.

Plasti-dip is a variety of compounds, depending on what we are talking about. Most times, it's a elastomer that is somewhat soluble in something such as acetone, and when something is dipped in, and then withdrawn, the acetone (solvent) evaporates, allowing the elastomer to stiffen.

At least, that is the plasti-dip I have used in the past.

My ace hardware has it in the paint isle.
I wouldn't recomend it for use on the handles of guns.
I put it on my magstrike and about half of it peeled off a week later so it looks like crap now.

Boba- For the matchstick darts your supposed to multidip, so it holds and is thick and it lasts.

Is hardened plasticdip (with multilayers) rubbery and grippey, or hard and grippy?

I didn't make matchstick darts, it was my MS.
I followed the instructions on the can.

I am guestimating that you are trying to dremel/burn a large hole in the foam, dip the "blank" into a thin-ish pan of plasti-dip for a consistent coat.

The pan idea could be changed to a test tube or something like that.

A bunch of "blanks" in a pan with the plasti-dip could be good for mass-production.
