Well it's winter where I am, and probably where most of you lot are. So it's just a bit too cold to go outside and Nerf (or do something else).

So, you're bored and inside, with nothing to do, no guns to mod (or in my case break atm).

To cure you're boredum now and over the holidays, which one would you rather hook up to your TV?

My personal choice would be a PS3 because they look pretty cool (should be getting the 60GB one for Xmas ^^) and are technical better in every way to all the other consoles atm. You can even install other OS's on it... and use most USB devices and bluetooth headsets/stuff.

Also, new GTA and UT next year for it. F**king awesome.

PS: If anyone cares UT3 will be the first console game to feature full blown mods, like a PC (the only downside to this is that you need 8GB's of HDD to 'install' it on). The PC modding/editing package acctualy has a "Export to PS3" button and will technical allow entire new games to be with it. You could even make BioShock or Gears of War for PS3 if you had the technical expertise and a few years to spare. Whereas, the Xbox 360 version won't have any of this, AND you'll still have to pay for Live becuase Micrsoft suck major balls.

I wo also go for the PS3 because like you said, mechanically its better. But if you can you should go to your local ski or snowboard resort and go for a ride. Even if you are a first time boarder, you can take lessons. But if you are at home then go for the PS3.

EDIT:I voted for PS3.

This has been gone over a few times already.
1. Wii
2. Go outside,
3. 360
4. Computer
5. PS3
Just because the systems has a bitch-load of sweet processing stuff doesn't make it the best. From what I hear a lot of developers are having problems developing games for games for it and stuff like that. The Wii is fun and innovative, the 360 has the best games, and the PS3 has a shit ton of sweet processors and gear like that. I could blabber on for a while longer, but I think you get my point.

I personally like the 360. I'm not "hardcore" by anymeans, but since it has a relatively wide selection of games, with exclusives like GOW and Halo, it makes it very appealing to me, not to mention it has LIVE (which is, undoubtedly, the best out of all the Next-Gen systems).

I think someone should make a portable-console poll. I think I will.

I voted PC's. There is a much larger market for them, they can also be upgraded easily to be better than any of the consoles. Also, you can modify games you own far more easily on a PC.

Thats true but for a good gaming PC its about five grand, I think thats a bit out of his price range.

Hum, I havn't heard anything about that myself (devopers having problems), but I do know one small issue, and that is, games like NFS: Carbon and FEAR, that are on both the 360 and PS3, look better on the 360 because production isn't in full swing for the PS3 yet. Thats the ONLY thing I don't like about the PS3 the launch titles are kinda pants, but then agian, so were the PS2 ones.

not to mention it has LIVE (which is, undoubtedly, the best out of all the Next-Gen systems).

I have used LIVE at a friends house, and it's pretty well thought out and everything. But the PS3 has pretty much the same deal (friends lists, servers etc etc) as LIVE, but for, well, free.

Okay, I've changed the sub title now, to which do you prefer. Happy? Probably not, but okay...

I'm just intrested to know what people think of the consoles and which they would go for.

EDIT: The laptop i'm using now was £1,500 new. Thats about $3000. Although it's about 3-4 years old now. My point is, I could build/buy a gaming PC i'm happy with for around £1000. It would run pretty much every game out atm with graphics on full without lag, I've looked into this. I've already looked into which to get (PS3, 360 or PC in my case) and i've chosen PS3. I just wanted to know what other people thought.

I am pretty happy with my V Smile. Dance'n Learn is a step above DDR and Disney Princess:The Crystal Ball Adventure is one of the best platformers I have ever played. Above all that when I'm done playing I really feel like I have learned something.

All my life I have been a devoted fan to Playstation.

Then however, Gears of War came out originally only available for 360.

Since then I have never looked back.

If this gets turned into an argument about which console is "t3h best"...

Anyways, if I had to choose, I'd go with the Wii. No justification, because everyone who disagrees with me won't even read it, or they'll ignore everything I said and go "lol noob!1!"

I'm not gonna lie about it, the PS3 is a George Forman Grill. It's terrible, the new ones aren't backwards compatible. The online is mediocre compared to the 360. Don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, I work in a video game store. I'll let you guys in on a little secret. Black Friday we had 55 Wii's, 30 360's and 20 PS3's, Guess which two of the three systems sold out in under 4 hrs. Guess what 20 we still have in stock. My ranking of them

1) 360 (more games)
2) Wii
3) N63
4)PC
- infinity) PS3

but thats just my opinion.

Computer (I built my baby)
Wii/outside
360 PS3

I can't decide if I like the Wii better than being outside or not... I just can't place one in front of the other.

There's just no way that any of the consoles that comes out will out do my computer, as I can easily upgrade it to surpass anything that happens to out do it. Or I could sell this comp and build a new and *gasp* even better computer! But that's kinda far fetched for me 'cause I'm in college...

I believe the term is "LOL!". Haha, seriuously though, the V Smile is an amazing pice of kit.

=P

I somehow knew that the 360 would get the most votes. Well, so far anyway...

Wii. I own one, and I love it. Super Smash Brothers, Metroid, Legend of Zelda, games everyone grew up with. It's like nostalgia in a box, yo. But after that I'd choose the 360, its pretty rad.

I still have hope in the PS3. It has only been out for a year, remember the first year for 360? Graphics were being outclassed by the PS2(except COD2), and the only games were Perfect dark, COD2, and crap in a box with a 360 logo on it(sold 400,000 copies). The Wii can't see me having.

Prometheus: <_< couldn't put it better.

PS: can anyone tell me who came up with the Wii? Sounds like it was made up by a drunk Japanese guy on a roller coaster.

I belive it's because 'Wii' can be pronounced in every language. At least that's what Nintendo Power said.

I would pick the 360 mainly because they have all the better games. I have a friend who has a Wii and play it when ever I go over. It fun never the less but I so far haven't played with the Wii's remote. I have only played Guitar Hero on it. My older brother just got a PS3 from his girl. He has ProStreet, FiFA, and Call of Duty MW. I 've only played the Prostreet because I love cars. The picture I have to say are better than the one on the 360 but its not much of a difference. I've seen my brother play CoD and the picture is near realistic.

(In my personal opinion, and not considering anything you 360/PS3 fanboys say)

Wii/Nintendo is the best (period)

Note that those are the words of a Nintendo fanboy: deal with them.

PS: Wii is pronounced like "we." Note the plurality there: Wii is about having fun with other people.

Better not include me as a fanboy. I don't think the 360 is bad, i like it. But, for some reason i utterly despise the Wii. My favorite game series is MGS. While it is silly at time, it also has a extremely high level of seriousness. That really can't be truly replicated on the Wii. Really, it depends on the type of games you like to play. If you don't like serious games, get a Wii. If you like me, and like some silly stuff, but also want a decent, more serious plot, it is more of a choice between 360 and PS3.

I guess when you hit a certain age, you don't see any intelligence in combining the words "serious" and "games", in the context you describe them.

I can have "serious fun".

I can have a "serious crisis" to resolve.

I can do "serious work".

But a "serious game", even when it comes to simulators such as "Microsoft Flight Simulator X", or any of your shoot-um-up games like HALO or the like, can't be considered anything more than just that; a game. An amusement. Entertainment.

I fly Microsoft Flight Sims, and I also fly a Cessna 150 IRL. While many of the benefits of flight simming come in to play while flying the real thing (such as instrument and attitude management), the actual sensation of flight can only be replicated in the cockpit of the real thing. I flight sim for pure fun.

Same for "combat sims". I need not go into detail on those. No pain. No consequences.

This isn't directly aimed at you Ultra, but I just see that used in so many other contexts. Serious gaming. :P

That all said, I voted "go outside", but were I to pick one, I'd actually buy a Wii. Because it's "serious fun". And CNN or Fox reported that the movement with the controllers is beneficial for old people like me. ;)

I voted for the Wii as well. I own it, and I love it. I may pick up a 360 at some point, but it looks like all the games out for it right now are the same things I've been playing for 15 years.

I'd also like to point out that picking a system based on it's "technical superiority" is pretty silly. I know that means it has the capability for having a more immersive experience, but I haven't seen any developers even attempt that. Another FPS, another driving game, another sports game (a new one every year!) gets old very fast.

For the younger crowd, I'm sure this is just fine, but I'm looking for something new and artistic (and that doesn't mean photorealistic).

I also despise the term "console wars". There's no war, because there's no clear winner...

...wait, maybe it is a war. Commentary aside, there'd be no Sony without Nintendo without Microsoft without Sony, and so on and so forth. Just have fun with what you like, let the fanboys rip each other apart.

I would have to say Xbox first then outside. I have an original Xbox, and I am getting a 360 for Xmas so Xbox is the way to go. I have a few PC games but my PC isnt really a "Gaming PC". The only PC game that hasn't gotten old yet is UT2k4.
