My parents don't mind me nerfing, They just think I have TOO MANY nerf guns. I have like 15. I am trying to convince them to let me buy more
I'm in the same boat. Not just with my perants, but some of my friends too and my girlfriend, which kinda sucks. My Mum dosn't mind it, but thinks it's a waste of money, and my Dad thinks it's a fun idea and thought my PowerClip was awesome.
Quite a few of my friends enjoy Nerf wars, but I've only got one friend (who's currently trying to get his account validated...) that mods guns like I do. Also, only 2 or 3 of my friends pay for guns, they just expect to use them... Although they said they'd pay for darts.
I only Nerf with my friends in mainly my garden (I have a pretty big garden) and some of my friends gardens, but as far I as know there isn't anyone else in the UK that Nerf's... well, not that I've seen anyway. Over here the only common guns are Mav's and NF's. So there isn't any wars that people go to...

My parents think kind of neutral about it, they are not aginst it, but they don't like[font=Impact][size=4] it. I mean, I have terrets, and a hot glue fumes are a trigger for me, so they dont like me working with chemicals. And yes, make fun of my terrets. And by the way, it isnt like I randomly shout out curse words like everyone thinks terrets is. I always used to get made fun of at school, so now I am homeschooled. Everyones happy! Sorry for the life story guys.
Yahh, I hate that common misconception about turrets. I've got it, and it just triggers tics and shit. But hotglue and fumes don't do anything for me, expect epoxy. Epoxy kills me. And that's given me the, "I don't give a damn what anyone thinks" attitude. But I live in a neighborhood where only airsoft and paintball are cool forms of shooting, so I've grown partial to being the only kid in my city who Nerfs. It's pretty bitchin', except for the fact that I don't have anyone to Nerf with. My families cool with it, except the darts, they hate picking them up. And my cousins are very close to me, and one of my older cousins + my younger cousin think that Nerf is awesome, I've modded a couple guns for them each.

Or, as in my case, the thirty year old man who obsessively plays with toy guns and frequently discusses them with fifteen year olds on the internet. The fifteen year old who obsessivly plays with toy guns, and frequntly discusses them with 30 year old men on the internet.
Funny this topic came up, as I was just talking to my parents about Nerfing. They knew that I've traveled for a war before, and just chuckled about me "still being a kid". But they hadn't seen any of my building projects, so I showed them a few over thanksgiving. They were impressed, and asked when I'm getting my engineering degree (at which I laughed).
All my friends think it's pretty cool, but then, all my friends are geeks. My daughter thinks it's awesome, and likes working on projects with me when she can. I'm hoping that lasts.

My friends at school don't really dis it, but then again I haven't brought it up too much, mostly because noone would care, or they would think it's completely moronic and by the next day my locker would be filled with half-rotten potatoes (or something along those lines). I do have two friends that mod guns, so that's pretty cool. I also have a few other people who nerf but don't modify guns.
And what's with all these examples of conflicts that were "settled" with shooting someone with some powerful gun in the head/chest/bodily area? I mean what are you trying to prove? That you have a smaller dick than everyone else and/or missing other apendages? God damn...

Well when I shot the crack head in the chest it was because he would ruin my reputation in our school, and I didnt really like him. But if I let him walk he would spread that I play with toy and think he can beat the shit out of me, or I could have shot him with a powerfull gun and more people in the school would make fun of him because he cried.
So I would go for option two, also because he had a pipe in his hand. No joke.

Also, they eat the darts. I have yet to determine if this is their way of spiting the sport, or their way of displaying enthusiasm. I think I will never know, but, in the mean time, there is always hope and prayer.

Seriously though... most of my friends enjoy Nerfing and try and make wars; I only have one who mods or even owns guns, that's Elf. My two sisters don't Nerf but are pretty enthusiastic and encouraging. My dad has actually been to a war before and will help me mod; though whether that's because he likes it or is trying to be a good dad I have yet to determine (it doesn't really matter, I guess). My mom is indifferent.
Of course at school I get laughed at by all the paint ballers, but then we have that nice discussion about modifying which usually ends in a quite amicable awkward silence. : o)

Yeah. those paintballers are dicks. I get shit from them to but then they start having conversations about turning real guns into paintball guns and they talk about how easy it would be. Poor suckers, while I am making real working nerf replecas of real guns, they specualte aout wats to make thier Paintballing personas cooler and in the end, come out lookig stupid. I feal your pain but they feel thier own stupidity.Well, my dogs don't really like it. I devote too much time to modding instead of petting them, and of course when I'm away at wars I can't be petting them either. They hate the chance of getting hit on a ricochet, so usually don't adhere to me carrying them around too much.

Now, many of my friends are really interested in nerfing because of me talking about it so much. My girlfriend wants more nerf guns (I bought her a maverick last year for christmas) and many of my friends get me nerf related gifts/want to nerf with me. I think that HVZ has made nerf very accessible here at OU and it is widely accepted at school as a cool thing to do.
Now that I am home for break, my 10 year old sister loves playing with the guns and my parents just wonder why I order plastic tubing on the internet. (PETG came in today...yahoo!)
I nerf like a four year old.

Not all paintballers are dicks, woodsball players seem to be more open to nerf then the speedball fags in my experiences. Speedballers are way to full of themselves, considering their sport involves no skill apart from fast fingers.

Ha, Carbon. Or even us older, parent-types.
i think it's excellent that my kids Nerf. Well, that's because their Dad fixes up their blasters!
We're geeks, people. Deal with that.
But go and work out, pump some iron, get some tips from Forsaken_Angel24. That way you can be a geek with some muscles. Give someone a knee to the abdomen, pound a few detractors. Forget shooting them with your blasters. Show them some hand to hand COMBAT moves.
Just don't mention Nerfhaven when the cops arrest you for assaulting a paintballer or airsofter. You don't know me, or never met me.
Come to think about it, NO ONE has EVER talked smack to me about our Nerf blasters, especially the modified ones. They all were saying, "COOL, if I buy one will you fix it up for me?" That made me busy.

I actually have people ask me when I have a nerf blaster in my pocket why I have it and I just say "I was having a nerf kind of day". I was walking through one of tha academic buildings one night and one of the girls on the cleaning staff freaked out so I had to explain to her that it was a nerf gun and it was safe. I had my NF in the dining hall a couple days ago and my friends were blasting each other with it. It was so funny. Im gonna see if I can work out having a big ol cross campus nerf battle near the end of school

However my Mother doesn't like guns at all (have you seen what it has done to my streets) she gets really pissed when she finds my blasters on the floor and crap. My dad is a little worried that i might pick off my brother with my singled Tight-Own ( I really want too sometimes) I got a girlfriend she thinks its a little pricey at times but other than that she likes it.
All the guys at my school think what we do to our nerf guns is crazy!

My family is incredibly supportive... last Christmas I took out every gun I or my brothers own and had my entire extended family in a massive 8-on-8 war with all three levels of my house. Of course none of them knew what they were doing.
At one point they actually told me I couldn't use my modded nf at all, because I was picking so many of them off.
But it was still fun.
