I hope you get sniped. Not like I didn't deserve it once or twice but that signature could be potentially dangerous.

I really don't need shit ripping my IP. You do know that program is LOGGING our IPs and ISPs, right? Get rid of it. Now.

One, it's annoying.

Two, images in sigs are banned.

Three, I don't need SPAM or anything else hitting me because of a stupid program you saw.

Four, if anything else happens to me or my Internet service because of that sig...

I don't think it's really spying on us. It's more like a digital "mirror"

But, you really should delete that. Cxwq will shoot you dead faster than you can say "nerf"
(and the other mods, cxwq just sounds like the crotchetiest... or OMC)

Also, his brithday reads 1995. I don't think that's thirteen... yet... (is too lazy to do math)

I think VACC would be the crotchiest, he can be pretty formidable. OMC is a different story.

I looked into what he posted, it is pretty sketch. I'd rather not have people doing that here, even though the forum logs your IPs. I don't know how it snags them, but I'm not taking chances. I don't like that he added it and joined before he was 13. Plus, I need to show you ingrates I can still pull the trigger every once in a while.

A year sounds good to me.

What he was using in his signature bar is essentially an out side logging IP program. What it does is tunnel into the internet gets your ip sends it to the site and is "posted" in the signature bar. The problem with it is however that it also logs it into the website where they sell it to spam or "insert name"-ware sites. You can essentially call it a VERY bad thing to use. If you have an anti-virus program then it helps but not by much. Whats best is to change your ip address every so often by using the command prompt screen. You can figure this out by using google. Get a spam filter from either firrfox or a REPUTABLE download site. I also suggest other firefox/mcafee addon's: Mcafee site advisor, a spam filter, and to figure out a changing ip address, so when the hacker/ spam site gets a hold of it it changes so it can't figure it out. I hope this answered a couple questions, feel free to pick this aprat and add on what ever advice you want.

I'll pick it apart a little.

The Danasoft thing displays a user's information back to them. It's the same information that the user is sending to every site they visit. While it's true that Danasoft logs the information, it's the same info they would get if you visited their site..no hacking, it's just what goes into the access logs. Webservers log visits. I can look at the access logs at my webserver and see how many times my photos that I post here have been accessed, when, and by what IP addresses and ISPs. It's useful to see if someone somewhere is hotlinking a photo and leeching my bandwidth, but there's nothing nefarious about it.

Anyway, how exactly is selling an IP address helpful for spammers? Spam isn't sent to an IP address, it's sent to email...and and you can't figure that from IP.

Alright thats true, but spam sites are pretty much ran by an X amount of the same guys. They have both IP and email address. I won't argue with your reasoning because what you said is true but IP address can be linked to email addresses... I think I'm not so sure about that.

Yourface: It'll be fine. What you need to look out for is those nasty sites you know the ones I'm talking about... ones that every dad in America has seen at least once. And key loggers which can be imbedded into html for myspace. I thought about that one and it seems possible.

Well, I don't look at nasty things on the Internet and I don't have a Myspace. I basically go to four sites, including this one. And it's good to know that dastardly deeds won't be committed against my mom's computer. Thanks for the info everybody.
