*DISCLAIMER* Sorry if this is in the wrong place, unhelpful,or just plain stupid. ban me if you want to. *DISCLAIMER*

Anyways...When I went to K-mart I saw this gun and thought it had potential but i thought "what the hell would i know?".Thought I'd ask people who would know.

Description: The Tommy Twenty is a machine gun. it has a wheel with 20 darts in it. with every trigger pull it fires the dart and moves the wheel across one. It also has an extendable stock and claims it can shoot about 35 feet. It is motorized to move the wheel.
Heres the gun:

http://www.amazon.co...=toys-and-games

Should I spend my $30? (i know on ebay & amazo it says $59 but i saw it for $30)

If anyone owns one of these are they worth it? have you modded it?

Please someone help me.

Not hot.

The Tommy Twenty is a pretty bad gun as far as i've read (most Nerfers here think it sucks) And my experiance with electric guns is always this: they suck.

I know you were thinking though, it's fully automatic, it's got a large ammo capacity and you don't ever have to pump or anything. But, there is very little you can do to mod it... as far as I know all you can do is wrap elastic bands around the wheels that "throw" the darts.

If I were you, I'd spend my money elsewere.

But if you like the gun i'd say it's probably quite fun, if a little pants. Check out FireBox.com they have to Tommy Twenty on there somewhere, and have customer videos (and sometimes there own videos) of products they sell.

They are not worth 30$, you can get it at KB Toys for 15, or at least I did. They aren't really that bad, but if you have that cage on the front they suck. And, the range isn't that good. And it's damn loud. I guess it's a pretty crappy gun, actually. If you want a great, easy to mod gun get the Magstrike with your 30 dollars, same range, but not as loud, and faster. Plus the clips are cool. Or you could buy a heaping load of NF's.

With a little searching, you'd learn that a.) The Tommy 20 is semi auto (needed to tell Wisey that) b.) It's pretty damned loud c.) Pretty much the only inexpensive mod you can do is put rubber bands on the wheels d.) The "gun" jams almost every 30 shots e.) The most common price is $19.99, though it does, at some retailers, go down to $15. f.) The advertised ranges are almost always from an angled shot. Sometimes it's legit, but with this blaster, don't expect a lot more range than money spent (on average).

Isn't it funny how much searching finds out for you?

The Tommy 20 makes even the most ammo cautious of us turn into mini Rambos. It's fun, I'll give it that, but it isn't practical at all for outdoor wars. if you're really set on getting it, just post somthing in the trading fourm, you'll get it for alot cheaper.

As one who has gotten it myself (wanted to return it but the box got disassembled), I can easily recommend that you save your money for better guns. As said, the Tommy 20 jams very frequently, the darts are losely held in the "barrels" (meaning darts will fall out often if you're not handling it carefully), and the motors are very loud. It is more of a cheap rifle than a machine gun and performs more like a pistol.

With $20, you could (almost) get an AT3k twin pack, which I heard are much better. (though they only hold 6 darts each) However, I havent tried any AT's before though I'm trying to get some.

Oh, yeah, get an at3k pack at your local Freddy's (fred meyer) They are so much better. A Bit difficult to mod, but so many possible mods. They get 100 ft. ranges easy with a simple barrel replacement, and if you single it, It ca get up to 125'! They rock. I mean, it is the chosen primary of the king of nerf, cxwq. The only problem in my opinion is the pump, which is pretty funky. And the trigger is wierd on the inside. You can also easliy integrate them to titans I have heard. But anyways, The at3k pack is 20$, it has one silver and one blue at3k, and comes with 12 darts. And you still have an extra $8!
By the way, take out the liquitron power guage and make more airtank space if you get one. It makes it so you can pump it once more, and get some more range.

How much for the rf20 at the d general? And you can also find rf20's at toysrus for 26.99. I would go for it on the website though, they don's always have them in stock in the store

Not to be a n00b but,

The magstrike firing is about twice as loud as an Mt20, and there are mods for the Mt20. For instance, you could raise the voltage, replace the motors, clip mod it (ls clips), remove the orange thing on the front, minimize it, use the motors for a F.A.S.G. (Boom13), and make cdts/ stefans for it. It also has a high ammo capacity and is semi automatic. The only other gun that can do that is the mbz, and it's a ballgun.

But the magstrike is a simpler mod, more stefan-capable, automatic, and not as consistently loud. You could easily walk around the corner and light someone up without them knowing, where as the Tommy20 you have to turn on, and keep clicking. I prefer my magstrike over my Tommy20 any day.

The Tommy 20 definitely has its advanteges. Personally I would only use it as a defense weapon for times when the enemy already knows where you are, thus nullifying the problem of excessive noise. All of the other problems of the tommy 20 are fixable with the proper mod (ie cutting a slot to stop the darts from jamming, making PETG or brass 'barrels' to stop the darts from falling out...). The proper mod will fix just about any problem any gun has though.

Just for the record, Voltage will make give the motors a higher max rpm, however if you up the amps it will give the motor more torque. More torque means more force applied to the dart, which means a better range.

A gun that gets 15 feet per shot, jams up after every other shot and will only take stock darts is no were near HOT. They should pay you to take this gun.

The MT20 is a decent gun. Sure, it has pistolesque ranges, but it can be easily minimized, and then you have a "pistol" that has a 20 round magazine. Plus, you can turn off the motor when walking around. Plus, mine, which has a boosted battery, gets 45 foot ranges, which are okay by my standards.

How many volts are hooked up to it now? I was meaning to do that to mine, but I decided against it because I was just going to replace the motors (Yes, yes, I'm aware at what you're going to point out about doing that), but if it's just a matter of soldering a couple of 9Vs to it, then forget the motors.

Are the ranges flat or angled? 'Cause if they're angled, then I take the thing back about what I said about the motors.

Edit: Wow. It sounds to me like I have a one track motor mind.

Oh, so would I, So would I. I definately prefer the magstrike, I'm just saying, Mt20 is a fun gun to have, definately more fun than a magstrike, but far less practical. In indoor wars, my friend uses a magstrike and an Mt20. He hides out somewhere (like behind a couch). When anyone walks by, he turns on the Mt20, and cuts them down with the magstrike. Then, as an insult, he fires a few shots from the Mt20 at his victim. After that he just uses the Mt20 (remember, indoor battles).

Ubermensch:
1.How do you boost a battery? Just get a bigger battery and put it on?
2. How would I minimize it? Chop off the excess bits of plastic there for no reason?
Anyone who owns one:
1. How easy is it to turn on? Could I walk around with it off and just turn it on when I'm about to fire?

1. Well, the MT20 normally runs on several AA batteries. What I did was get a 9V battery hookup and rewire the motors to run on that instead.
2.Yup. Always remove the orange bit on the front.
3. Personally, I find it easy to turn on with only one hand.
4. I got mine from a hardware catalog.

I realize that I'm resurrecting a dead thread, but I wanted to address this weapon, and this seemed like a good place. Ever since my son saw this gun at Walmart, he has been talking about how much he wants one. So earlier this week, we bought him one. It IS a fun gun to play with, but it sure is noisy. I would second the remark about being an excellent defensive weapon.

1. The MT20 runs on THREE AA batteries, which together apply 4.5V. This would be a very easy place to modify the performance. Higher voltage will also increase current, due to the motor's static amount of impedance. Which reminds me, I'll have to go measure that. Higher voltage will have the effect of quicker spin up and also higher top speed. But that will also heat up the motor windings more quickly. I suppose that as long as you are careful to only turn it on right before you shoot, then (depending upon the motor) you may be able to apply three or four TIMES the normal amount of voltage. I'll look in to it. It appears that adding a cordless drill battery (24V Lithium-Ion, anyone?) to the end of the stock would be quite easy.

2. That's what I was thinking. It's only function appears to be to cause jams.

3. Yes, it is quite easy. I may actually install a momentary switch so it is only spinning up when holding it down, though.

4. Walmart, $19.99

Not. Not hot at all.

I got a t20, and I thought it sucked. it jammed every other shot, was notoriously inaccurate, had crap ranges, and by the time I took it out to try modding it, one of the motors wouldn't go, so the gun wouldn't fire.

Cheap piece of crap. I'm bitter, as you can tell.
