I just bought a BBB and tore it apart. I did the CPVC mod but instead of just putting the whole barrel, I placed a coupler. the thing looks great, there are no leaks or nothing. I placed the barrel on the coupler, cocked the gun and bam, the stephan went only 35Ft! I double checked everything but the same thing happened everytime. I checked if i misplaced or incorrectly placed the internals and I dont think anything's wrong. I only problem I have is that sometimes the gun doesn't want to cock. Any suggestions or coomon troubleshooting this gun has? Thanks

As for the gun not cocking, I might know what's wrong. There are two orange squares (curved) with pegs on them. One goes on either side of the front portion of the gun. There should be a spring on both pegs. Do you have them?

Also when you 'tore it apart' did you open the back half of the gun? If you did what I think you did, then you should only need to open the front half.

Unless part placement is wrong, I'm not sure. I simply cut off a friend's barrel and glued on a coupler (Ar's removed) and got 80', no problem.

Damn you read my mind.
When I said it sometimes doesn't cock, I try two time, then the third try it works. The square pegs are there.

Although, because I was curious, I opened up the back part. i put everything back together....or did I?
What do ya'll think? I accually have the thing open as I post this post.

How long is the barrel?

Did you remove the AR's?

Did you just drill the big white circular one? Drill the center of that out, and pop that back in if you did.

i did the exact same thing as the Big Bad Sexy but with a coupler mod. I ran out of CPVC pipe so I have like a 3 inch barrel now.

Well actually Big Bad Sexy can't use a coupler since it uses the CPVC barrel to fill up dead space, increasing range. But if you have a 3" barrel, that's your main problem.
What was the magic number for Big Bad Bow barrel lengths again? 8?

Ohhh I get it now.
That's actually really nice.
It's definitely the 3" barrel.

I might have to redo my singled BBB like that...

I did the same mod, but different. As in I cut off the orange barrel and put the coupler on the face of where the orange barrel used to be. And of course removed the ars. I'm not quite sure what the problem is though.

its not just the 3" barrel, mine is barely long enough to fit stock taggers and fires them to about 60'.

Use 1/2in. pvc, for arrows.

I did the same mod only with a 1/2in. PVC coupler, and added a spring DONT DO THAT! it wont allow you to cock the gun.

Don't want to shove balls in tight spaces. Trust me, bad idea.

For sale: Vintage WWII French rifles. Dropped once, never fired.

A good barrel length is 9". Thats what I have on mine and it gets really good range. If you still wanted to use the arrow's get some 1/2 thin walled PVC. With the thin walled PVC you can just slide the PVC over the 1/2 CPVC.

Wont allow you to cock the gun? what are you talking about? I replaced mine with a stronger spring and it cocks fine, jut requires a little muscle. And im not a big guy, either.

Man, I went to the store today, installed the longer 8in barrel. And guess what. The piece of shit still went 35FT! You guys think its the seal? More over the plunger head? I blow down the barrel when its on the BBB and I hear air passing/leaking through.

A few things to check-

Good air seal in barrel- SHould be airtight

Good seal between plunger head and tube- Adding an O-ring usually helps

Good dart fit- If your darts are loose or tight in your barrel it will greatly affect distance. The dart should smoothly slide into the barrel, but should require you to push it in.

What kind of O-ring? I got a NF one, will that work?
Also, would E-tape work?

Wtf are you talking about? The BBB doesn't use O-rings, its one of those old style crapper rubber sealer things (crossbow, BNA, etc...).

I use 6 inches for stock darts, works better than 9. 9 inches isn't as good when you add a Handyman spring. I'm trying 12" tommorow.

The air seal is fine, just take the plunger tube, and shove the rod in and out with a flashlight at the end, and if you see any light, theres a space where the light is showing. Why is this the 2nd post of mine that sounds really perverted?

Thanks

Yep. You know the plastic washer thing at the end? I made a "seat" for an O-ring at the end of that with plumbers goop and added a NF O-ring.... I had a faulty seal and it seems that helped.

Ohhhhhh. ok.

You take the plunger tube, put a flashlight in it, and if you see any light on the other side, there is a space.

Ok the seal is bad. How do I put the o-ring again? Could you show me yours? What if I wrap it with e-tape?

I never wrapped my BBB's plunger w/ e-tape. I kept that normal. The other guy had the O-ring setup.

A pic of the O-ring plunger would help.

Ugh. After the integrations I've done to the shell it would be a real pain in the ass to take it apart to take pictures. Basically, I took the plastic "washer" at the end, and gooped an O-ring to the side of it so that the seal was tighter.
