Pretty self explanatory. Never seen a topic on speed cubing so here it is.

I use the Layer by layer method but I do know the Fridrich method though.(I'm terrible at it). My best time is about 45-50 seconds. I can do a 2x2 in about 20 seconds. So does anyone else cube on the Haven?

I don't but I want to learn how
My friend cousin has won multiple contests though. He can solve it with his feet in 110 seconds

Make sure the top of your gun is parallel to the ground when firing.
Finish those other mods so I have something else to read on here.
Now have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up. :)

That's pretty sweet! There are TONS of tutorials on youtube but the best one by far is the one by "pogobat". Type in "rubiks cube" and it should be like the 2nd or 3rd one.

I tried, and failed, following the tutorals on youtube. I can come really close though.

I saw a kid in the library do it in 20 seconds. No lie.

Hey that's not bad at all. I just started cubing maybe a month ago. I've been practicing a lot now and within 2 weeks I took like 1:30 off my time. Not to mention it took me 3 days to learn how to solve it :D

How do you do that? Memorize it? My personal record is a year! 50 seconds! And you started only a month ago. Who knows, maybe some people can, and some can't.

Well, if I pay attention, I can pull it off in about 5-10 minutes.

If I don't, take out the calendar...

I JUST tried and I got it in 4:29:39.

Pretty good for my because I have NO formal training.

Or patience.

Or a 3x3 cube.

I have a 5x5 cube...

3x3's take me about 3-4 depending if I can find the cube after I throw it...

I hate 3x3's...too small...too simple...too damn annoying...and finally, too popular.

Everyone knows what a 3x3 is.

But while sitting, having a slurpee/icee/sugar+ice mixture moving a huge object, the 5x5 makes people ask questions and think for themselves.

When you chuck a 3x3 against a wall hard enough it breaks.

When you throw a 5x5 against a wall, it kicks you in the balls. It's the Chuck Norris of cubes.

Nice job!

Seriously how DO you solve a 5x5 in ten minutes. I'm currently working on a 4x4 but I can hardly get the corners...

I've got a friend who can solve a 5x5x5 blindfolded in two minutes. He's hella smart. Plays chess at a grandmaster level.

Alice came to the fork in the road.
"Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

Tell your friend to shove it...

And to get a life...

Is he going to High School Nationals in Dallas?

EDIT: ShadowKid33: Did you use a 5x5 cube?

No, I was using a 3x3x3. I practiced agian for a while and got 4:22. I use the layer-by-layer method.

By the way, has anybody ordered the tiles of Cubesmith.com? I can't decide weather to get the textured or smooth ones.

Nice job!

Thanks!

A 4x4x4 is called "Rubik's Revenge" and the 5x5x5 is called "Professor's Cube". The 2x2x2 is called "Pocket Cube" and the 3x3x3 (standard) is called "Rubik's Cube".

The record of the 2x2x2 is 2.73 seconds. For serious.

He's out of high school. He's about 20, I think. Graduated college early, plays stocks for a living, and teaches math and physics at his local university.

He is my idol.

For life.

I like the fact that no one that I have met outside of Ohio can 5x5 in less than 5.

I shaved my time to 4:19:08 today.

Speed stacking mats are good for measuring speed when your stupid friend with your $35 stopwatch is goofing off.

I got my stopwatch for

OFF TOPIC:
NERF courses:
Think of Sasuke or Ninja Warrior to all the non-Japanese speakers. It's a crazy obstacle course.

Sasuke NERF is like with a whole house run which is about a 100m dash with aiming and shooting.

We are writing a rule book. It is a 3 second penalty to miss and a 3 second bonus to hit a small as f**k target.

We are using blowguns and the same ammo. 8" CPVC with cut off micro darts and reinforced bases.

It's crazy.

Might post a video.

My time is about.....umm.....WHAT THE F*** HE LOST MY $35 STOP WATCH!!one1!

Anyone know of a good way to hide a body?

Wanna see genius?

Yeah... But, not really since it's a computer.

I saw the tail end of a human solving a 1000x1000x1000 - total time was about 20 hours I think, but I could be making the time up - not sure at all.

Also, it really isn't hard to solve a >3x3x3 once you've mastered the 3x3x3 and studied the cube in question for a bit. It might get confusing at a certain point for each person, but it's all a formula...
