It's just a question I've been wondering forever.

Is a gun worth more if it's stock, or if it's been modified. I know some people pay high for good modifications like Angel's LS, but if you mod the gun, it's cutting down it's value, as it's not original anymore.

Opinions, questions, answers, flames?

Screw the flames.

i think that newer guns that can be bought right at wal-mart and aren't the rare sell for more as modifed, but really rare guns sell for more orignal, unless your going to use it for nerf wars not just a collection that you just hang on the wall and gathers dust.

If everybody knows and loves the mod you did on your Nerf gun, and you poted the writeup, the moded Nerf gun will probably sell more than the stock Nerf gun.

Just an oppinion though.

If it performs better, looks the same or better, and has the same or better longevity, I do not see why a modified Nerf gun shouldn't sell for more than the same gun which is stock. Of course, it might depend on the buyers preferences. The buyer might be willing to pay more for a stock gun because they want to modify it themselves.

When speaking about a swallow, always make sure you know whether it is an African or European swallow. It is very important.

Modifications done to easily accessible guns (For example, the nitefinder) Are usually worth more than stock, whereas modifications done to discontinued guns (for example, the crossbow) are usually worth less than if you could find one completely stock on ebay, depending on the mod and condition of the gun.

I think it depends.
I bet a stock Crossbow would go for more than one with a CPVC coupler and CPVC barrel.

Though I've seen modded Longshots go for well over $100 on eBay, where a stock one might get up to $40.

It really depends on the modification and the sellers reputation.

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

Chefdave, we don't like backseat-moderators here. So stop. Plus that was completely irrelevant to the thread.

Back on topic: Most guns should sell for more if they're modified, unless its a rare gun, like the crossbow. And the Longshot, mine in particular, if its painted and has expensive barrel materials (brass) will sell for a lot more than stock. By the way my Longshot in total, for paint, time, brass, and other things, I would sell for at least $150. Which nobody would buy. Which is why I'm not selling it.
