Well.. Interesting story..
I'm searching around one day for a tutorial on some programming shit of little interest to you.. I end up at a site called 'pixelated.net' or something. This reminds of pixielated.org, the last known location of "Nerf Reviewed!" I then remember Eric Stryker and his flagrant faggotry across the nerf net community and thought I'd see if his site moved..

Lo and behold, the name Eric Stryker belongs to a gay porn star.

But there *IS* one link on google to nerfhaven.com.. I figure "another halfassed nerf site?".. And yet I click.. And I'm greeted with the most thriving nerf community I've ever seen. That's just awesome to see.
And I see "stefan darts" have maintained their old name. I take it that means nobody's found a better material for 'em? That sucks, I could never get them straight enough to be accurate at high range.

So I figured I'd pop by and say hi to those who remember me. I saw Spoon and Vacc and Famine and Ash on the member list.. What'd I miss?
I still miss the old listserv at times.. Like when "the rev" was signed up and that poor priest's email was flooded with our "disgusting filth". And how half of us are going to hell for yelling more shit at him (then again, if you read the fucking welcome message you can also unsubscribe yourself).. Or the time Adam finally posted his pic and we all finally KNEW that he was a mafia goon.. Or the time I shipped out a batch of darts to Spoon and the horsemen after I sprinkled lye on them...

Man I'm getting all misty and shit now.
I plan to lurk around the forums for a while, and pay very close attention to the mods/DIY forums.

Good to see you guys are still around; look forward to hearing something from you.

As I live and motherfuckin breathe, The Canadian's returned from exile. Shit, I have no idea where even to begin so I figure I'll let Vacc or Spoon bring you up to date. Aside from that, Goo is lurking around somewhere and I get the occasional IM from TBS. It'll be interesting to see what your take is on the progress of mods, the NIC's come a long way from ducktape and rubberbands.

Woah...dude...this is like, the most amazing return ever...

Ok, considering you've been absent from the NIC since, what was it, late 2000, early 2001? I'm not sure. I'll fill you in.

1) As you know, NerfOnline closed.
2) Cxwq, VACC, and Spoon opened this bad-ass site.
3) Nerf HQ is the other thriving forum in the NIC, but...it's more of a home to the n00bs.
4) NerfCenter closed.
5) Cxwq discovered that brass is a great barrel type for Micro Stefans.
6) Nerf Online re-opened with the absence of forums.
7) We've seen the introduction of the Airtech, Tech Target, Atom Blasters, and our good friends at Lanard Toys lines.
8) And, you continue to be the most famous Nerfer in the NIC.

Oh, and, in case you wanted to know...

Nerf Reviewed is still up, hosted by NC.
Nerf Complete has been archived by Wayback Machine.

You probably have no idea who the fuck I am, as I existed when you didn't. I was a mod at www.nerfhq.com for a while and I resigned recently. Jesus christ, it's fucking good to meet you sir.

Well well, the man, the myth, the chinchilla farmer himself. It's been a while dude. I don't know where to start. Basically both coasts are once again a hotbed of nerfing activity. Jersey's got a bunch of new clans (new to you and me at least), and Spoon's little community has blossomed under the dominating hand of my good friend, partner, and crazy-eyed father of this site, Cxqw. I hope you stick around a bit, things are a little slow now, but they'll heat up again as the weather does. Welcome back dude.

VACC

Oh, and in reference to shadowbane, we played on Carnage from launch till recently (well more recently for famine). We're mulling around on the test server now.

Finally, I get to "meet" the creator of the Stefan Dart.

New nerf lines, and competitors. Old sites went down, new ones went up. lots of stuff has happend.

Yeah nerf is kinda picking up on both coasts again, but its still dead as ever here in the midwest. ^_^

Good to see you back, even though i dont really know you.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA that cracked me up so bad I had to pee. Fortunately not on the floor this time.
Wow. This is more of a welcome than I was expecting. So much for the "who the fuck are you?" posts. ^_^
There goes my fun.
Wait, here's more fun:
Say my name out loud and tell me how it sounded phonetically!

Anyways!
I just pulled my crossbow out of the musty old chest and it's going to sit on my desk for a while. I need to have a good long think about it.

So I hear you guys are all clearly insane and are putting brass and shit in your guns to make them even more dangerous. Bout time!

As for me.. I'm going to revisit the homemade dart design because that was never really completed to my satisfaction. Are they 100% straight now? Has anybody found a way to guarantee the weights are geometrically centered? Not that stabbing it with a glue gun isn't fine...

Ok, I've spent too long staring at this screen not knowing what to say.. I need to wipe the drool off my face and do something else.

Btw to the Shadowbane nerds:
I was playing on Treachery until about 3 days ago.. Finally I'd had enough of Ubi's horrible treatment of its customers and realized I'm not going to relevel from 1 on Corruption. I had an R6 channy on treach, R5 cent druid on treach, and an R5 cent druid with a badass template on test. What a waste of a year. :/

Well, for one thing you could go and do a google search for "Foam Modified" I don't know how long it's been for you but if you don't know what zero darts are, you should check them out. Aside from that, I don't think much is different. Some people use slingshot ammo for weight, but they may have always done that. We in the LGLF use a drill press to hollow out the back instead of a soldering iron, and we leave the foam out straight for weeks before we use it, which gets 'em pretty unbent.

: snip :

Well, in retrospect, your darts have been improved and simplified. I believe your original recipe called for a drill press, a sodering iron, or a pencil to make the hole in the back of the dart--although now, since all the barrel types we use don't have poles in them, we use the glue gun not only for melting a hole in the front of the dart for the weight, but also to melt a hole in the back of the dart.

To refresh your memory: 5/8 size for mega Stefans, 1/2 for micros, and 3/0 fishing weights for megas, BB size for micros. Zero darts, on the other hand, and micro Stefans with foam craft sheet wrapped around the tip of the dart so that they'll fit in PVC.

A Tutorial

Heh, you were expecting not to be welcomed? Listen, man, anybody on this board who said "Who the fuck are you" would get the pants flamed off 'em. On the other hand, I don't really think there's a Nerfer in the NIC who doesn't know what a Stefan dart is. It seems that over time, "Stefan Darts" have gone from being somebody's name to more of a type...there are people that really have no idea who you were (or are) and why we call 'em Stefans.

Anyhow, I welcome you back. You truly are a legend. ^_^

I was reading about the Zero darts.. Those look great. I'd like to start something like that but I'm afraid I'd probably just make a potato cannon.

By the way, for anyone who's interested or wants a laugh, I've put up my site again (for archive purposes). I gave the whole file tree to Hal once upon a time to archive on NO.. But.. uhh.. Well nevermind.
It should be fairly stable on my site (it was actually there all along, it's just that nobody guessed the URL).
I cleaned up a couple dead links and put a final update on there..

Four and a half years later, here's what I had put forth back in the day: Nerf Complete.

I still laugh when I look at it. It's almost as bad as the Geocities pages with animated flaming skull GIFs and the guitar riff WAV looping in the background.

So if anybody's interested, check it out. By now it's more a fascination like a fat guy who exploded rather than a welath of information.

I nearly shat on myself when I saw who actually posted. I'm at a loss of what to say...

I remember emailing you back in the day, after your site got taken down, asking if you still had a Crossbow for sale ^_^ Ah...those were the days. I've come to a conclusion that all the Canadians stole the Crossbows, seeing as I got both of mine from Canada, Cxwq got his from Canada, and you have one...still. That's a little unnerving. Be that as it may, all the Californians have the PETG and good brass. <g>

Good to see you back, even though you have no idea who I am, it is a very, very pleasant surprise to see you.

Hey, even at four years old plus, it's more informative and yes, even more attractive than some of the sites that are being cranked out these days.

I should talk...mine isn't yet complete, and it's basically just text and JPG images. Oh well.

Nice to meet you, Stefan. I wish I'd known you sooner, then I wouldn't have thrown away so many useful Nerf guns. Now I'm building these new ones up for my kid, and yeah, even for myself ^_^ . Thanks for your contribution to the NIC.

Hey dude, welcome to NerfHaven. If I'd known how much ruckus you'd cause here I probably wouldn't have approved your account. It's just shameful.

You don't know me cause 10 years ago I quickly realized that those damn Nerf slingshots couldn't hit my buddies across a 15' living room. Throwing them down in disgust, I turned back to my MMORPG addiction. Boy, how times have changed.

Here's a timeline to get you up to speed on the major events in the online Nerf world since you left. From my perspective of course.

1999: Spoon finally comes out of the closet. Recognizing his propensity to hang out with underage boys for what it was, he suddenly disappears from the Nerf forums and signs on to the I'llBeYourSexualPredatorForTheEvening chat room on AOL.

2000: Vacc and his fine affiliates from the scenic Jersey coast head out to California to lay the smackdown at Armageddon (The War To End All Wars™). Upon arriving, they decide that it's "fucking hot" here but "at least it's a dry heat".

2001: The One, The Only, Vowelless Wonder, God of Brass, Modifier Supreme, Cxwq hits the scene. Cxwq immediately begins referring to himself in third person.

2002: Death of NO. Death threats to Hal. Like the phoenix of legend, NH rises from the ashes to claim its rightful place in the Nerf pantheon.

2003: Who the fuck knows? Someone do something quick...

Yeah, that's pretty much it.

The AT3k is pretty cool too.
