Do you come home after a hard day at work and just run into your armory and just tweak till the sun comes up?
I know i do because it makes me feel great that ive made a toy gun almost as powerful as a bb-gun. Im not sure about any of you guys but what is nerf too you?

Definitely. It feels good to have my work pay off. It feels even better to come up with original ideas or mods.

Yeah it feels great to make a cheap peice of plastic and springs shoot twice as far as it did. But it totally sucks when the outcome is not as good or worse than stock. Then yoiu feel like and idiot. :(

Make sure the top of your gun is parallel to the ground when firing.
Finish those other mods so I have something else to read on here.
Now have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up. :)

I used to think that I liked to mod. Now I have realized that I hate modding halfway through every project. I don't really have the patience anymore to do some of the more complicated mods. When I was doing FA's ls breach mod I threw the gun at the wall a few times, and it was really hard for me to resist smashing it to pieces. The gun works like a charm now, but it really wasn't worth it.

Fuck modding.

Because unlike you I NERF.

1.Modifying Nerf blasters.
2.Nerfing with Nerf Blasters

I think that way about nerf. It gives me that warm, fuzzy felling inside after I give em a nice big welt after shooting a nerf gun that you bought and modded it yourself. That is why I don't buy already modded guns on ebay. I just like the feeling of modding it myself.

Wait, what about the part where you spend hours and hours on the Internet bragging about your sweet new mod, asking questions that have asked before, and posting WTBs trying to get that super rare blaster (Insert X-bow, Manta Ray, Warthog, Splitfire, SM5000 here) that you MUST have .

Therapuetic? Ha! I hate every second I'm modding. Because I know that every second I am messing with the insides of a gun, I could be messing something up. It's the end result that I look forward to. That's what I guess you could call therapeutic.

For me, it's one of the greatest feelings in the world. I know that:
1.) The blaster will preform much better.
2.) I know every detail of how the blaster works, and how to change it.
3.) Only about ten thousand people mod their nerf guns. I'm one of them.
4.) When I'm done, the blaster will outshoot any of my friends'.
5.) Even if I screw up, I can just buy another for low cost (usually).

Stress relieving? I'll say.
Until I go too far and it all goes to shit.

Love Modding.
Love Nerfing.

Occasionally "love" reading stuff here. Othertimes, it's just damn stressful.

Wow, all that crack's finally gone to your head. About time too.

It completely depends on the guns I'm modding. For instance, i HATED modding my longshot, so damn complex, but i sure as hell loved modding my Nite finders.

Actually, I recall your 13th being 2 months away (I validated his account at NX as a favor, so you can trust that info). So shape up or get the fuck out. I may have let you into NX, be we aren't as tolerant here.

On-topic: Yes, it's stress-relieving. Until I start a homemade and find so many details about my plans don't transfer as smoothly as I had hoped from computer to PVC. Gotta keep trying here.

I think that nerf modding is stress relieving only when I am FINISHED modding the gun. During the modification I am tense and actually stressed out. But when I screw the gun back up and it shoots 2-3 times as far, now that my friend is the king of stress-relievers. :D

From what I've experienced (granted I've only just begun my nerf adventures), the modding has an interesting love/hate relationship that accompanies it. For example, I just modded my Nitefinder and it shoots much better; my favorite part is the noise right when the dart leaves the barrel. On the other hand, even though my NF works well, my mod really wasn't that clean (pretty damn ghetto :D ); but I've become more experienced with my tools and now I have the urge to buy another (what's six dollars anyway?) and try out different methods of modification. It's pretty satisfying when you do it yourself.

I used to like modding nerf guns. I have cheap tools and limited supplies, so modding for me is difficult. So for me it was sort of sub-par as a hobby.
That was until I got my first piece of cpvc. After I modified a gun using cpvc, I was so impressed with the results compared to the amount of work I put into it, that I went crazy and modified 3 guns in the same day with the stuff. I love modding now, all because of cpvc.

I like modding guns. I think it's fun, and I like seeing end results of things. I like modding unknown guns, or trying new things on guns. I've got a few ideas I want to try out soon.

Though I do get pretty pissed when things just don't work.
Like, when something always falls out of place or pops up when you're trying to put the case together. Yeah, that's probably the worst. And I'm not a big fan of repairing broken guns.

I still like going out and Nerfing more than modding guns though. But they fit perfectly together. I wouldn't want to mod a gun if I never Nerfed. And I wouldn't want to Nerf if I didn't mod anything.
Like someone said earlier, I like knowing the gun I'm using is mine, and that I tweaked everything on it. I like being able to say I "made" my gun.

...Just one thing I love about Nerf... Customization.

Planning mods and (especially) modding itself are both pretty relaxing. They take my mind off of all the other crap I have to worry about. Plus, it just feels good to make something with my hands.

The only stressful part about modding is worrying that I might really break something, but otherwise I don't really care about the results until I go to test the mod...which is rather stressful:

Will it blow up or otherwise break?
Will it suck or will it be awesome?
Did I waste much time and a fair amount of money?

My biggest disappointments: My re-barreled BBB and Pump Action Shotgun. Both only barely outranged my NF (if they even did that). I figure that either the fit of my darts sucks, or I just need to replace the springs. Or both...

I agree with you all for example last night, I was modding my hornet and taking out the air restricters when my chisel went right into the chamber. before that it would only shoot one barrel at a time I'm sure you know how this feels. My problems go away when i mod its a lovely feeling. waiting for that epoxy to dry.

Heck yeah Nerf is stress relieving, but only for me when I finish the blaster or when I prove its superiority to my nemesis. Otherwise when modifying the gun it differs, I get really excited and want to crack the gun open at first, then I get a flow of good ideas as to what to do with it and start working on implementing them. But, I get through it halfway and get bored and crack open another gun and do the same things several more times. The end result is my work becoming disorganized and me never finishing anything until I've cracked open every blaster I own and I press myself to finish up some of them to get them out of the way. However, sometimes I have a good amount of free time on my hands and a simple modification to perform on the blaster and get it done with a snap. Lately it has been more of the first, unfortunately.

It can be a stress relieving but if I'm too stressed out then I won't even open a gun up, cause I know I will screw something up. Personally I can't wait to open a gun up and start modding. I'm really nervous when I do my mods but that all goes away when it is put back together and it shoots 2-3 time it did.
