So I bought a tek 10 at a thrift store knowing the cocking mech was broken so now I would like to know how to repair it.

Im interested to all idea's.

The problem is when I cock it back it just slides back down and nothing happens.

I'm not quite sure how a Tek10 cocking handle works, but maybe this will be of some assistance:

I think there are only 3 plausible reasons why your tek ten won't stay loaded.

1) The bracing for the rod is broken. Frost vectron already covered this; because the tek ten is very similar to the maverick (the only real difference being that the turret indexes into the next position when cocking the gun rather than pulling the trigger).

2) The cocking rod runs directly through the back of the plunger ram, and your plunger ram could possibly be broken at the back. This would make it impossible to cock.

3) The locking mech is either worn or is missing the spring, which means that the plunger ram would never stay in the cocked position.

This is all I could come up with considering the information given. When you pull back on the cocking mech, is the plunger ram being pulled back as well (can you feel the tension of the spring)?

It's a good possibility number 3 of what Kenpacchi_Taicho said, It's happened to me before with a Tek. It is most likely broken rather than missing the spring if it is unopened, the broken bit should still be stuck in the gun. If this is the case find it and re-attach it with a structural adhesive like epoxy putty.

When speaking about a swallow, always make sure you know whether it is an African or European swallow. It is very important.
