Hello fellows, Goucher's fifth game of HvZ is off to a raucous start. The original zombie has been ID'd, and she's made SIXTEEN kills in less than 24 hours.

Meanwhile, my friend's modded longshot (removed air suppressors, added NF spring) is having some trouble. It fires with out him pulling the trigger. When he cocks it, the dart flies out randomly. When he pulls the bolt back, it fires randomly and jams.

Thanks in advance for aiding the Human Resistance!

Try adding/replacing the spring on the plunger catch. A spring from a pen may work, depending on the pen.

Sounds like a weak catch, or possibly a broken bolt sled.

If it's the catch, then all you have to do is open it back up and replace the catch spring with a stronger one.

If it's the bolt sled, you need to repair/reinforce the sled, which hasn't been done yet as far as I know. Shouldn't be too difficult if that's the problem, but your longshot is likely to be out of commision for at least 24 hours if that's the case.

I'm pretty sure it's the weak catch though, and that's just a matter of using a stiffer spring than the stock one. That should take about 20 minutes or so to fix, so lets hope that the weak catch is indeed the problem.

Some of my nerf guns have had this trouble too. It's definitly the catch. Try to open it up and see if the spring that pushes the catch down is still there. If it is, then you should try to take the NF spring out and test it again. If it dosen't work still W/O the NF spring, take some pictures of the internals and show it to us, it'll help diagnose the problem better.

Hope this helped, and sorry if I was unclear, but I'm sure someone else will come along and list the problem right off the bat.

Good luck with the zombies.

Edit: Curses, beaten again.

Odds are the spring is bent in the housing. If it's not straight, the catch won't hold.

MY bet is you put too powerful of a spring in, and didn't strengthen the catch spring.

So many responses! Thanks! I unfortunately messed up a bit- he DID NOT MODIFY THE SPRINGPOWER IN ANY WAY, but he DID do the shotgun foregrip mod. He just wanted me to let you know.

That means either
A: The catch has come loose, and needs to just be put back in place
B: You have some repairs to the catch or sled to do.

I think he may be missing the bolt lock. My longshot didn't have a bolt lock for a long time, and it would fire randomly.
