I know I am not the first to do this but I thought I would show every one how its done. There are not that many pictures but it is simple and these should suffice.

---------------------------------------
Take the gun then crack it open.

---------------------------------------

Remove the air restrictors, then cut the gun barrels down to the place the barrels get smaller.

The couplers should just slide over the stubby barrels that are left. Glue them down once you get them to set even.

Set them in the shell to see where you need to trim down the shell.

Trim shell and put it all back together.

There you go all done.

I mod nerf guns so they look good. So leave my scopes, doodads, and trinkets alone I like them. I don't mind the weight and I started out that way on toy guns and its not going to change.

I just bought a blastfire. Thanks for posting this. Should be simple enough.

I take it you left the OP valve in because the tanks are sensitive? What is the optimum amount of pumps?

Yes I left the OP valve just to be safe.
I am not sure the optium number but I will find out in the morning. I think its low about 8 pumps. If you listen really closely you can hear the OP valve when you pump it to the point it starts tripping.

I'm not familiar with this gun, and I'm wondering about it's method of operation. From the pictures it looks as though the "cocking slide" is a "selection slide", that lets you choose how many darts you fire. Is this true? Also, what is the function of the red button on the top of the gun? I would also like to know what kind of ranges you can get with this mod.

It's an air-powered semi-automatic. The blast chambers have a stem valve that fires air into the barrel when the back pressure in the tubing is released. That release of back pressure sucks a little cap down onto the stem that leads to the tubing, and that seals it off. But at the same time the cap being pulled opens the blast chamber to the barrel. Efficiency of the system is dependent upon the level of restriction in the tubing and the valve that's releasing the back pressure.

The main trigger fires the barrels in sequence, but has to be reset prior to repumping them by moving the slide back and then forward.

The trigger on the top fires all of the barrels at once.

Other guns that use the same kind of blast chambers
+ Hornet
+ Big Salvo
+ Triple Strike
+ Lightnin' Blitz
+ Splitfire

and a few others

Thanks for the walk through Slug. It was easy to understand, and very descriptive.

Slug, I may be wrong, but I don't think the Lightning blitz works that way. It fires all 5 darts at once. I saw one on here single barreled once which leads me to believe it's more like a Secret Shot 2 than a BF.

OMC, I think you are right, in Angel's Lightning Blitz PETG barrel replacement he describes the darts flying in pentagonal formation.

Anyway, Z-man 12 did you plug the pump, ranges?

When speaking about a swallow, always make sure you know whether it is an African or European swallow. It is very important.

No pluged pump, like I said before. I would put the ranges at about 50 feet thats a guess though. I do know that the blast trigger makes the whole bunch go a bit farther then the single shots by them selfs.

I have two blastfires and both pumps are plugged (I used e-tape because I wanted it to be reversible if it didn't work well) and I haven't had any problems with the tanks/valves/etc. The only problem is that if it is pumped too high (more than ten times) the pressure is too high to push the "cocking slide/selection slide" back into the green housing and you'll end up refiring the first barrell a couple of times until the pressures gone down enough that the pin and be forced back into the green housing. I found that for the optimal number of pumps is in the 9-10 range. If I'm just going to be testing it for range or pumping and firing right away without running around, I'll pump it up to twelve times.

They all use the same blast chamber valve system. The difference between the two is that the Blast Fire has a sequential trigger valve and a blast trigger. The Lightnin' Blitz only has the blast trigger.

If the Lightnin' Blitz didn't have the same valve system built into it, it wouldn't fire darts unless you loaded all of the barrels.

Well, the Blast Fire in general is more durable than the Hornet and isn't as much of a migraine to modify. It's really no contest as to which one I would choose out of the two.
