As I am a noob, I'm hoping this doesn't evoke too much flaming.

With that said, I'm an avid Humans vs. Zombies player at Goucher. Last semester I had some buddies take out the air restrictor from my longshot and add a BBB spring, as well as a Captain Slug foregrip kit. The thing was a CANNON- loud, huge range, and okay accuracy (but in zombies, I'm more looking for ROF anyways).

Well, the other night my trusty LS went bust. The elbows of the carriage that moves the breech forward snapped off after months of wear and tear from the spring power. I just bought a new LS yesterday.

Should I put the BBB spring in again, and reinforce the O-rings? Should I take out the original spring and have ONLY the BBB spring in there? Am I completely off here? Thanks in advance. I'd order one of the combat springs from Bravo Company USA, but Humans vs. Zombies starts midnight Nov. 1st, so I think that'd be cutting it too close...

Thanks in advance, everyone.

I JUST changed my ls to a original NF spring, because its too bleh with the BBB spring. Its hard to cock when holding in a shooting position, not accurate at all, loud as hell, and feels like its going to explode.

Go to home depot, and try to find some springs, bring the BBB spring with you.

I don't have the BBB spring in my LS but I do have a NF spring in there and it seems to go pretty good. Ranges are in the high 50s and low 60s with just the A/Rs removed and doubled O-ring. Now, when I put OMC ( One Man Clan ) PETG in side and I fire Stefans I can get an easy 95+ feet. Also it is pretty accurate.

Another thing I heard to do is reinforce the bolt carrier by epoxying on some thin metal sheets on the inside, that or just put some JB weld on it (I have no idea what that JB means) I'm planning on trying to put some musical wires at at 45degree angle at the bend when I get a new spring. You might want to try different things with your old one.

PS: I did put the BBB spring in once, and that thing was a beast! somehow I got over 100' with the stock barrel and another o-ring... I don't think I could do it again so don't flame me.

EDIT: Never mind. Cartoon got 99' with his with a BBB spring.

Yeah, The NF spring is great, I just fired 2 clips worth. Its like a.... TTG's range with a clip, and Big bad bow's accuracy and way awesome-er.

Just put hot glue in the streamline's tip if you want any accuracy.

BBB spring I got 80-93 feet fluctuating, then I switched to Nf spring. I recommend the NF spring to people who want thier LS to last.

By NF do we mean NiteFinder? Sorry for being noobish again, and I appreciate the response.

Also, when Carrtoon modded his, was it both the LS spring AND the BBB spring, or ONLY the BBB spring?

Its hard to cock when holding in a shooting position

Well, that's not so much a problem for me...I have long arms and thanks to the foregrip it was never too much trouble to cock quickly.

Maybe you could take some steel strips or something and reinforce the elbow.

If you Nerf in western washington, PM me

So you see a penguin walking down the street. Looks harmless right, so you keep on walking past him. You turn around to seem him walk away, only to find yourself staring down the barrel of a .38 revolver.

After a little over a year of constant abuse, my Longshot's bolt carriage also broke. I think it's just one of the fragile parts that every nerf gun has. Eventually, the plastic will wear out, not matter what you do with it. I'd stick with the NF spring in addition to the Longshot spring, especially if ROF is your goal.

Finding a way to reinforce that part would be ideal. Good luck with that and let me know how it works for you. I just have no idea how I would do it, and don't have the motivation to think long and hard about it.

Keef, does that include a barrel replacement and double O-ring?

If you want ROF then I would suggest to change to the dart tag magstrike.

Double O-ring.
Here i'll list everything I did to it.

AR out
NF Ex-3 Spring
Double O-ring
Hot glue in the LS darts

And I didn't even have to lube it.

I might try a TTG spring if I don't put it in my NF.

Well, here's the thing- in HvZ, the moderators mandate that autoguns be an "unlockable" privilege. Meaning that for the first few days of the game I'd be stuck with only Mavs, and I need a primary. So I like my LS just fine. Thanks for the suggestion, though...a lot of players swear by the Magstrike.

Also, Keef- I have a yellow Nitefinder. A Google Image search showed me that the EX-3 model is blueish. So would my Nitefinder's spring be worse? I've stretched it substantially so that the NF's incredibly powerful.

Don't stretch it, its not worth it in the long run.

Just use any NF spring. Blue, yellow, rail, no rail, it doesn't really matter.

You could use a DTG( Dart Tag Gun) with you LS for an added amount of darts that you could spit out. But about the reinforcing you can put strips of aluminum flashing along the bolt sled.

Heartw0rk, I actually encountered exactly the same thing. After a while with a BBB spring in it, the bolt sled on my LS busted in exactly the same place. Reinforcement is clearly called for.
