Saw this at Target, had never seen it before. Looks moddable.

This looks modable. Even if the dart firing system can't be improved, the drive system surly can. It one-ups the Insect thing in a few ways. It has 12 darts, not 6, and it has wheels, making it easier to mod. I may be picking one up, but I thought I'd draw some attention to it, it looks like it has some potential.

Alice came to the fork in the road.
"Which road do I take?" she asked.
"Where do you want to go?" responded the Cheshire cat.
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

I wonder how the darts are fired.

I would bet you the darts are merely fired via spring, doesn't look too interesting.

When speaking about a swallow, always make sure you know whether it is an African or European swallow. It is very important.

Interesting I suppose, but utterly useless. Except maybe in an indoor war.

I agree zaphodB, it does seem to have potential. It seems like it would be fun to toy with. I've tried to somehow mount a gun on a remote contol car before, but nothing seems to work.

Well, you get a small piston, spiderman dart tag set and combine the tanks, put it on a small rc car. I mean, why not? A battle bot tournament with nerf!

Really All Star? Because sarcasm is hard to detect on the intrawebz...

Anyways...I would think the darts would have been shot like a mech 20. Instead of a mechanical air compressor or what ever it has... I bet is has something like a drawstring on a plunger or something like that... yeah ...

<_< I was planning on checking for modding potential before anyone else... <_<
I saw this in Target a week or two ago. The first thing I was reminded of was Cole's RF100 (Although smaller, and finished).

My guess is a very weak spring/elastic system. You load in a dart, and the dart pushes the spring/elastic past the catch.
In an auto-cocked vehicle, I doubt anyone can do much with it.

It's all cool All Star, I'm just so used to sarcasm that border line things automatically get questioned...

I bet you can even take apart a cheap as f*** rc car and use the motor to fire the trigger instead of a piston...

The car probably shoots what, ten feet, put a x-bow on that pos! (seriously just kidding although that would be funny as hell to see, but a waste of a x-bow)

I appologize for "necroing" this topic, but I have something significant to add.

I got a couple of these rc cars for christmas this year, and figured that I would share a little bit about what I've learned about them. To start off their range is better than what's advertised, I haven't done an official test but the darts go from one end of my house to the other (approx 30'). Also the firing can be enhanced, as there is pretty heavy restriction on the flow of air (the air flows through very small slots in the pegs). This car's biggest draw-back is it's mauverablity. It has "tank" steering (forward and reverse for each side), but it is only applied to the back wheels (there is no power applied to the front wheels). Being "rear wheel tank drive", makes for some awkward manuvering. On tile the wheels tend to spin, too much force applied to the wheels without enough friction (but this can be fixed by either adding a little weight or adding an elastic band around the wheels). I would definitely call this car a nerfer's best indoor war friend. When I get back to college in january, I'll be taking it apart and testing out what I can do to improve it.

Oh I forgot one of the best peices of info, at around 18' it will hit someone 6'2" directly in the neck....AWESOME!!

Hey, lionhead, SHUT UP! I finished it, but had to run a compressor constantly just to reload. Then leave it to run more to refill the bladder. And the car works like the dart gun pen. So, no potential.
We should stop calling out/making fun of/pissing GC off. He's actually contributed and is available for trade. He's a better than average member no doubt. Got your back Cole.

Cole- What the hell? I'm saying that's what it reminded me of. Why are you at my throat every time you can be?

I didn't know that you had finished it, all I heard relatively recently was "I abandoned it because it wasn't practical." Maybe not the exact wording, but hey. Why didn't you reprimand me a month ago, or over a pm?

As for potential, did you even read the post before yours? It fires 30 feet easily with heavy restriction.

Just so this post is worth something, I have a question. Theoretically, how practical would it be to remove the ability to shoot 10 darts, and instead have three or so ranged shots? (Perhaps NF plungers) Is it accurate enough for that? I've never actually fired one.

Also, do the front wheels share an axle? If not, you could connect rear-wheel drive to each front wheel with an elastic.

To keep this thread useful...I'm not sure how easy it would be to make it only have 3 "ranged" shots. I think the purpose of this truck is to attack a cornered enemy, this way they get fragged and there's no possibility that you will. Lionhead, I was thinking the exact same thing about the wheels the other day. It would be more than possible to connect the front wheels to the back wheels, it would just take some work to make the wheels connectable (remove plastic between the wheels).

On a side note, I had a little "mini-indoor-war" and this story shows just how useful this truck is. A buddy on my team decided to backstab me, so I dashed away from him and into another room. Not too long after I got into the other room, he had me pinned by the truck. He was able to drive the truck right into the room, and unload on me......it was a little freaky because I had nothing to shoot at, but I was under pretty heavy fire.

Yesterday while I was out and about, I decided to hit up the local zellers and check out the toy aisle (as usual). While in there I saw what could be the best thing to add to the Rapid Assault Vehicle (now referred to as RAV). Right next to the nerf section was a remote control spy vehicle. This thing had a small camera on it, which displayed what it viewed on a heads up display in a set of glasses it came with. Rigging the firing mech of the RAV to this vehicle (it would be much more difficult the other way around due to the complexity difference in the control electronics....yay for digital electronics!) would give you a view of what your RAV is shooting, instead of blindly firing around a corner.
