Preview. It's almost done.

And of course, an OATN brass breaching system. Can't go wrong with these things.

Posted Image

Plunger tube replaced, plnuger reinforced, everything cut for integration. Full reinforcement following splitlips guide, and a person touch with the almost done paint job. Look out for this at the next PA war.

Name: The Zombow
Mods Done: Level 4, uniesex coupler 1/2 PVC or CPVC, reinforced everything, silencing foam, the whole kitten kaboodle
Integrations: Not in pictures, but is has velcro along the top (zombie's hair), and I interchange between things.
Comments: Braaaaiiins. PJ is intended to look like a chewed up disgusting zombie. I think I achieved that. This was another cheapo xbow I resurrected.

<<horrifying picture>>

Ahh, decisions decisions. Stock crossbow (arrow shooter attachment was removed), couplered 2k and manta ray shell (if it gets used) = ??? We'll wait an see.

The next person I see that claims to do ANYTHING involving a Manta Ray and their Crossbow...I swear, I don't know what I'll do. I might just stick my penis in a blender or slam it with a fire poker. Seriously. This shit is irritatingly painful.

Also, this thread was NOT meant to be a platform to hype your upcoming Crossbow mod. I'm going to delete the useless comments on here.

From now on, this is going to be like the Modification/Paintjob Thread.
ONLY POST PICTURES OF YOUR FINISHED CROSSBOWS.

Name: Purple Haze V2
Mods Done: PETG nested in PVC barrel, replaced plunger tube, reinforced, 2 mini-bungees.
Integrations: Singled AT2K, with 8 inch CPVC barrel and plugged pump; spiderman gun with roughly 3 inch PETG nested in PVC, (Completely Removable).
Comments: This crossbow has been through many stages. First it had a 3K integration, then replaced that with a 2K that later became leaky, now have a perfectly air-tight 2K, and a removable spiderman gun. The plunger tube and crossbow barrel was made by BustaDartInYOurAss, he also made most of the spiderman gun and sold it to me. This is definitely the best its been.

Ranges:
Crossbow - No bungies, 90FT; 1 bungie, 95-100FT; 2 bungies, 100-110FT
Airtech 2000 - 85-90FT
Spiderman Gun - 50-65FT

Name: Stumpy

Mods done: Level 3.5. I did all the reinforcements you would do for adding a DT3 spring, except I replaced it with a arrowstorm spring. I reinforced the spring rests with metal, glued nails behind them. Shaved down pencils were used to reinforce the plunger by the previous owner. The band decals were the previous owner's too. The red highlights were me. I replaced the plunger tube as per Splitlip's write up.. It has a universal coupler on it now, which means it will accept any barrel, provided it is a piece of CPVC or it's nested in PVC.

Comments: My second xbow. I got quite a deal on this one. The front was sawed off because of an incident involving the previous owner's brother, a pile of laundry, and said brother's ass. It doesn't look that bad. I am looking for a new shell, because I am unable to integrate the 2k I speak of below. If you have one, Pm me. It is in sanddown mode, because the PJ was peeling off, but it has at least 9 coats of games workshop paints on it, so it's gonna take a while.
This isn't it in it's current state. I have bungies on (3 of them) instead of the surgical tubing. I am integrating a 2k as we speak. I used it at massacre 2, and got some paint chips from being shot in the gun. Im fixing that too.
Ranges: 65ft with no bungies
73ft with 1 bungie
79ft with 2 bungies
84ft with 3 bungies.
After the plunger tube was replaced, I was getting 130ft flat with an arrowstorm spring and 2 bungies. That went down though, and Im not 100% sure why.
Here is another cool pic of some of the band logos:

Mods Done: Level 4
Integrations: 2k Intergrated Splitlip/Coop style. Done by Splitlip.
Comments: Got this from Soothsayer who said it was a level two crossbow when it was literally crap. It had nothing but e-tape around the original barrel. Split redid the internals for me and did the intergration and now its a charm. Although the trigger for the at2k has fallen off, it works lovely.

And it's for sale....soon...

Name: The Viper
Mods Done: Level 4 reinforcements, PETG-lined PVC speed-loader barrel – coupler, repaired broken plunger rod - reinforced with aluminum, spring replaced, reinforced trigger, airbrushed PJ
Integrations: AT2k with 8-inch PETG-lined PVC barrel – coupler. The At2k has been mounted on top, the hose and pump tube run internally and out the front under the main barrel, tied into the trigger.
Comments: The Viper was a winter project for me. the paint was almost all air-brushed on. It has a DT3 spring and gets average xbow ranges for those modded with DT3 springs.

Note: I am not posting the full write-up on NH as there are already numerous xbows on this forum and it seems redundant. If curiosity is too much for you, the full write-up is available on

Name:Jerry Springer
Mods Done:Level 4 modded, L-bracket added to spring rest area with two bolts behind so it won't break there, plunger rod is also reinforced with some steel bars and plumbers goop. 1/2" pvc coupler added to the at2k and main barrel so I can use brass, cpvc nested inside pvc, petg or just pvc for stock darts.
Integrations:Integrated at2k under the main barrel and pump is where the old barrel was but some tubing does go outside the case due to the plungertube but doesn't look horrible.
Comments:Its broken a couple times but I have fixed it. The name came from a nerf war where I was talking to venom and said something about my crossbow and he asked me what I named it, I thought then replied Jerry Springer.

The ORIGINAL Green & Black.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

Name: Ascendant May change soon though...
Mods Done: Full Level 4, but with Rawray7's coupler assembly; masked green-black paint job. The flash was a bit bright since I was so close to the gun taking pictures: it's actually a somewhat more even, kelly-green color. Barrel is nested brass inside 1/2" PVC, made to fire micro-stefans; 8" total length. I also use shorter straight-PVC barrels for shotgunning.
Integrations: N/A; but beginning to consider some kind of intergration.
Comments:It's called Asecendant, a sort of qualitative/purpose name, similar to "Vindicator" for my PowerClip. I'm thinking of changing the name though, as green for me now has a very different association for me: Taiwanese Independence....long story, some other time. It has NEVER ONCE been used in war, even though I've had it for about 3 years now. That will probably change soon however, as I just found some people at work that regularly war...I'm thinking I'll be a little too severe for them though...none of them yet know how to make darts/stefans (as I found out tonight). Gets about 85 ft flat. Probably needs some maintainence done by now though, as it's been in storage for some time...

Also, someone should have e-mailed me about the pics being down at the link for Rag's mod...I'll fix that post-haste...as well, I was the one that had posted that up so long ago when NHQ had been having problems...

EDIT - K, I fixed the link for Rag's Mod, pics should all be up.

New plunger Head/Plunger tube screw Mod:
Posted ImagePosted Image

Name: Harbinger MK. ll
Mods Done: Level 4 mod. New plunger tube, DT3 spring. There is reinforcement on the plunger rod, plunger tube holders, spring rest, behind spring rest. Screws doing threw the coupler to make it not move the plunger tube. New catch, and trigger spring. New plunger head made of the original plunger head parts, (Will be posting picks when I get home from the hospital) and the plunger head is filled with hotglue. Bolts going threw 3 screw holes do to the fact there were none. Silencing foam, and plunger cushioning. Gooped tubing down. Metallic Blue paint job, with white and black details. Finally, last but not least, LUBED everywhere.
Integrations: Singled Sm1500. Fired with a keyring.
Comments: All these mods have been updated by Split and myself over the past 3 or so months from time to time, and I love it even more now. Will be posting a longer story later.

Name: Alpha-Tango Thunderstrike Slaughter-Falcon Black-Skorpion diddle-Dingo Night-Raven Shark-Jumper Fuck-Hawk 9000 Deluxe.
Mods Done: Level 4 mod, plunger tube replaced, Arrowstrom spring used. The primary barrel is 1/2" cpvc, and intended for firing tag darts. I have a pair of cpvc/PVC threaded couples for switching it to 1/2" PVC for firing stefans from nested petg. I suspect a breech or turret will be added this summer.
Integrations: Marvelous Salvo, and detachable tanks, so I can switch from empty barrels to loaded ones, then (in theory) reload empty barrels during a lull in the battle.
Comments: This is actually the same xbow I posted back on page 2. Basically I hated the paint job, and wanted something eye-raping that would look awesome in the lazer tag arena. bpso86's xbow (featured on page 1) and a BBB painted for my girlfriend a few months ago served as the inspiration for the exact color scheme. Lastly, the Iron Man mask will be getting some lenses from safety glasses installed so I can wear it in the lazer tag arena, and intimidate others with my cold, piercing, mechanical stare.

Just thought I'd post the paintjob I recently gave to the Mk. III. Each respective blaster has been hand-painted with a similar color containing a more vibrant hue of the original color. IE, the Crossbow purple is a deeper, richer purple than the original, and the Splitfire green is a tad brighter. All the weathering and metallic chipping was hand-painted and on to give it a worn, battered look. The gun's logo was a hand-cut stencil that was hand-painted on. It is not a decal. A George Petty pinup girl will follow in the summer months, as you are probably wondering. Faux rust effects and more weathering (only in certain areas) to be added as well.

Name: Ellen (Revisited)
Mods Done: Level 4 reinforcement. Ragnaroks barrel system. Arrowstorm spring replacement. Hunter green paintjob.
Integrations: Effin' Lightnin' Blitz.
Comments: I'm a humane player. Lets get that out of the way. At the past three wars I've attended, I've placed three welt inducing shots at other Nerfers at close range when they tried to rush me. I needed something else. Something that let me have my mid-long range shot on the crossbow, but something that allowed me to deal with players who perferred to rush over hanging back. One solution. And I talked about it at wars for quite a bit. Cut off the grip of the Crossbow and slap on the closest blaster to an actual shotgun. A Lightnin' Blitz. It is a seriously kick ass blaster, and I'm suprised I haven't seen many in play. The LB has a pretty nice sized tank, and can take more than a few seconds to pump, which in this case, isn't too bad of a thing. I can squeeze out ranges from around 50 to at least 75 depending on the amount of air I put into the tanks. What's not shown is the Eliminator I kept velcroed to the Crossbow. Don't worry. It's going back on.

Name: Not so stumpy anymore!
Mods Done: Level 4, fully reinforced with putty, metal, wood, you name it. Universal coupler, stock PT with washer behind plunger head. Usually use a 9/16 barrel but I don't need to have it coupler'd because it vaccum loads quite well.
Integrations: . 2k as we speak
Comments: I got a new shell for my old crossbow, Stumpy. I re-did the internals, scrapping the replacement PT, new spring, reinforcements, and now soon to be a 2k. I have been having endless problems with it. The coupler never stays on, even with JB weld and epoxy putty together. It has come off a good 4 times now. Ranges also suck. Maybe 75ft with two bungies. I have tried a variety of barrels, nothing helps. I'm gonna throw in a replacement plunger tube and see if that helps

Name: Zues, he throws thunderbolts at things, this gun throws darts at things.

Mods Done: Level 3.5ish, it doesn't have that much reinforcement beside the plunger rod, but it does have a redone plunger tube (one of those plumbing pipes split used) A really nice 12+ inch brass breach complete with fake ports on the front. It is 17/32 brass with tightening rings and then 1/2 brass.

Integrations: A 1 pump at2k, powered by the monstrosity faststeeled to the bottom of the gun. Sure it doesn't look the best, but its a great secondary and it makes the gun much more balanced weight wise

Comments: This crossbow has been through so many iterations, it had a splitfire on a rail for a while before the splitfire blew up, then it had nothing, then it had a at2k, then the at2k blew up, then it had nothing again, and now it has this at2k. It seems that every time I go to a nerf war it breaks/malfunctions/isn't awesome enough so essentially every major war I have been to in the last year has caused some new mod to this crossbow. And now I am finally happy, at least until I go to a nerf war and the at2k inevitably falls out and shatters on impact, causing the barrel and coupler to shoot off of the crossbow.

Name: I don't really make a habit of naming my guns, sorry people!
Mods Done: Level 4, I believe.
- Aluminum on the spring rest, 1/8" brass bolts behind the trigger rest as well.
- 1 layer of epoxy, and 4 layers of plumber's goop on the coupler to plunger connection, it's not going anywhere.
- The plunger head came off at hershfest (I think) two years ago or so, despite already having a bolt, so I filled the gap where the screw came out with goop, and then gooped on some steel that was just the right width to keep pressure on all the screw in the front of the plunger rod and all the steel rod re-enforcements, making the plunger head one solid piece (the steel was originally scrap from a wall mounted shelving unit) The plunger is rather heavy now, but that hasn't stopped it from getting amazing ranges. See pic number 5 for the insanity.
- I also replaced the spring and the plunger head of a Defender T3, it seals a lot better and cushions the front a bit.
Integrations: . None, save the ammo holder from a Chewbacca Bowcaster toy.
Comments: The noise this makes when it shoots, if you're near it, you know when it fires. Don't ask for ranges, but it's safe to say it breaks the 100' mark, and a bit more with the usual 2 mini bungees. I got this when I was very new to nerf, explaining the PJ, but I've left it on there because it's gotten weathered enough that it looks nice. One day I plan to repaint it, but until I'm inspired, it's gonna stay the way it is!
