Someone had contracted me to do this really cool AT2K Flame Paintjob but backed out because I was asking too much for it, but I did it anyway. I figured I’d show it off and see what you guys think about it. I'll probably be selling it still but I want to know what you would pay for it. It took about three days, 6 cans of testors spray paint and a huge amount of hand touch-ups, but this is by far the best paintjob I’ve done so far. It's a metallic black topcoat with a gold to candy apple red fade for the flames, it had a silver basecoat, allowing the red to look really good.

Just so you know I have pics of every stage of the paintjob and I’m writing an article on how to do an excellent paintjob that I will post soon fo sho.

EDIT: Bolt Master Zero helped me out and loaded the pics to his photobucket, i'm working on getting my own account right now

That paint job is very nice. I like it.

One small thing though-the pump handle is rotated to the right. :D

yeah, I did that on purpose because I like the feel of the handle like that, and it makes the whole thing look just a little cleaner

Looks really nice, though the embossed Nerf logo really detracts from all that hard work. I guess I would have shaved that if I was going to do detail painting right over that spot.

Actually i was thinking of going back over Nerf logo by hand so that it's readable again, I'm thinking silver or maybe orange.

That looks really awesome, but like Cx, i would've sanded down the upraised Nerf logo.

How did you mask off the flames? What kind of tape did you use, or are they hand-painted?

I Origanally masked off the flames with good ol' Blue painter's masking tape, I used the thick(duct tape sized) roll and cut out the flames with an x-acto by placing strips of tape on wax paper, then cuting it. After I removed the masking from the gun I actually had to do a whole bunch of hand touch-ups. So it's sorta spray/hand painted flames.

I have to ask at least $45-$50:
The paint was expensive  : 20ish
then gun and brass add on another 8
and suddenly i'm not getting much out of the 20+ hours of work I put into it don't seem to pay out all that great though...

Alright thanks. I cant say what I would pay because I dont care what my guns look like as long as it works well. However, on this such occasion I think I would pay materials fee plus $10 which would come out to around $40.

Yeah, I do not intend to actually USE this gun, this was more of a peice of Art than a gun to go NERF with. I think I'll take this badboy over to e-bay and see what I can get for it, or at least the trading forums.
