Hey, I was browsing the web for foam sources and I found This Company. They claim to make their foam however the customer wants and they show bright colors that would make for high recovery rates. I don't know what the density is but it's a possible source.


(Or is this the place you were talking about SkullFace44?)


*EDIT* I also just saw This Place. They are in the US and claim much the same thing. Has anyone seen these before?

*EDIT2* The first company is in Canada. Guelph Ontario to be exact.

Hmmm this is interesting, I have never heard of either one of these. I hope someone can shed some light on this.

The first one is a possibility, however I've contacted the second one and they said they couldn't make the foam. Someone else trying couldn't hurt though.

The company, when I looked into them further, they are from Guelph, Ontario (which is near Toronto). This makes me (and possibly a lot of other nerfers) feel a lot better. They seem like they would be good to order foam from.

I live near there. (Even though I live in New York. But near the Canadian border, like a 15-20 minute drive to the bridge.) I could attempt to start up a bulk order. (Even though I have never attempted to do so before, so I could use a couple tips) I will start up a thread in the trading forums IF they will accept the order request.

It was?! I found out by going to their "Contact Us" webpage. And on the Bulk order attempt, I want to imform you that I will need everyone who is going to be in with this to give me the payment, and I will try to figure out a way to go about this. Just give me a couple of days for them to respond and for me to post it here.

ALSO, just to be clear, do we want the foam in blue, Green, Red/pink, What? I was thinking like a neon yellow because that color seems like it would stand out in the grass the most (But the worst in the snow, just putting it out there). Would this work?

Also, reason why I am offering to do the bulk order is because I am the closest one (In the lower 48 states) so it would reduce the price on shipping.

I dunno, I really can't contribute at the moment, after christmas would be doable. I think that blaze orange would have the best findability since it exists in absolutely zero natural things but you say neon yellow and that might do well.

You must be in dire need for foam to have gotten on this so quickly.

SolarFusion: Yes, I am in dire need of foam. That is why I hopped right into this.

Droid: Now that you mention it... Orange might be our best bet.

To both: reason I am in dire need of foam is because I have finished a mod on the Xploderz Invader x3, and want to do a range test, but I have absolutely No Darts. I lost all mine while trying to do a range test on my AT2K I Modded.

That'd be sweet. It'd be nice to know the quality before anybody makes a big order.

Light blue. It's not a natural color (like yellow or orange) so it's easy to find in all seasons.

I would try to contribute based on cost, if we went with blue.

My vote is for purple if you can make this happen. Blue would also be cool. I feel like Nerf can have dibs on orange for now. And of course I'd prefer not pink since I've got a bunch of that.

My only advice would be to check out the size and tolerances first, and NOT ship it from the opposite side of the world. The latter you're already doing, and the former sounds like it would be relatively easy for you to do thanks to the latter.

I grew up with Campsis radicans (Trumpet Vine, see below) so I've seen "blaze orange" in nature many thousands of times.
Bright blue, or purple - though also actually "found in nature" (in flowers, as are many colors that humans can't even see), blue and purple can really stick out, on most grassy and woodsy backgrounds. The dark blue of Elite darts is just okay. Orange should actually be a little better. But I always want purple anyway.

Years ago, I investigated having custom foam made, but back then minimum orders were more like $8000.00

Yesterday, I thought my other comment went through, but apparently it didn't.

Anyway, Yesterday the comment was supposed to state that I would try to start a bulk order of foam from Alcot Plastics, as I had sent them a request for foam, and I was going to do it because I live a short drive from them, but shipping would be a lot cheaper than if someone was trying to bulk order from, say, California. so anyone interested in buying foam, I am currently putting up a thread in the trading forums for bulk ordering the foam.

But, there are some questions that need to be answered on the thread as well, such as:
What color foam do we want?
How many feet/meters of foam do we want?
And:
Are you willing to join in because you are in dire need of foam? This one has two yes answers, one answering the whole question, and one just saying you are willing to join in.
