I like this idea, but I don't think it takes account Nerfers in Canada, Australia, and Europe. A whole Nerfer Location Directory, perhaps just listing someone's state/province/area and their name would be much better. That way it can be kept shorter and more concise, as well as leaving room to include overseas Nerfers.

The new custom profile fields combined with the members search tab pretty much handle this. I would advise anyone who is interested in being located to update their profile by selecting their country and state/province/region from the drop down menu. Note that our top four countries (US, Canada, UK, Australia) are at the top of the list, not listed alphabetically.

To find nerfers near you, go to the Members Tab, click "Use Advanced Filters" in the top right corner, and select your state and/or country from the provided drop down menus.

If you live in the US, Canada, UK, or Australia, I recommend searching by choosing only the state/province you live in and leaving all other fields blank. If you live outside of those countries, select your country and leave all other fields blank. Searching using the "Location" field (the one that isn't a dropdown) is a bit hit-or-miss due the the wide variety of formats people have entered their location in, but it is also older and thus more commonly used. If you're coming up with a lot of old and inactive members, you can also restrict your search to members who have logged in recently by selecting a date in the "Last visit is after:" field.

It's totally clearer and more simple to have everyone post in this thread will all that useless information you want instead of editing a profile that has canned slots for that information to begin with.

Personally, I don't really see why we need a thread about people's favorite primary, and I don't really support a listing of people's real names on the forums. My main issue is that I don't want a thread like this to distract from the more functional profile fields I've added (which I see you haven't used yet). The profile fields are a little more user-friendly, don't require you to update a post, and can potentially be used in an upcoming map project. However, I don't really want to make a thing out of it either, and I'm not going to close the thread over it.

I'll play along, since I think it would be good to have a "currently active users directory". Although I use my real name as handle, I do not think it is relevant in this setting. If you meet someone in real life, then learn their real name. But on the internet, usernames are plenty.
