So today I decided to do a small modification on my Scorpion LDR, which means it had to be opened up. I took advantage of this to get some pictures of the internals to all of you.

This is just a simple picture showing the LDR with the receiver cover taken off, and set aside.


And here would be the source of its power, a setup of 2 high powered airsoft rifle springs


The barrel and recoil spring, nothing too fancy...don't mind the over use of hot glue.


Barrel again, except the bolt is partially pulled back


The piston (or plunger as some would say) with holes along the side to make it lighter, thus making it accelerate faster.

Alright, well that's about it for pictures, I hope you guys liked them as well as clear up some questions about the inner workings of the LDR.

That person would be no one due to the fact that it complies with state law, with an orange tip to let all people around know its a fake. I dont see whats wrong with it to be honest.

Alright I get no one likes my paint job, its been brought to my attention ever since I showed it off here a month ago. That aside I will note to always paint my guns bright pink, and then ask for feedback...so possibly bring other cons (or pros hopefully) to my attention as well? Thank you.

Dont listen to people. If you like the black thats all that matters. Nerf isnt about looking gay with your bright pink blasters and it pisses me off when people say it is.

If you feel 'gay' because the plastic foam blasting children's toy you are carry is brightly colored, you have no confidence in your sexual orientation. Not painting things black is a simple matter of safety. Orange cap or not (none is pictured in this thread, however we can see the large attention to realistic detail), you are still have a pretty realistic gun.

As for feedback, you could stop waving your dick, you aren't really impressing anyone here. You made a SNAP, except now it's harder to assemble/disassemble and replace any internals. It's a nice start, but keep it more practical next time.

Don't expect too much out of this gun, its primary reason was to be a technology demonstrator. It was made to experiment with new modification ideas.

Those holes in the plunger won't make it do anything but break easier. I recommend replacing that piece immediately. Anyway, about the paint. Bob, Ca13, and Hipponator are right. Painting your blasters black just leads to trouble.

Actually you would be surprised, the holes did increase the performance, though it wasnt a huge improvement. But in my book, any improvement is worth noting. Also I considered the holes making it weaker, so I looked into it and placed the holes at the points that would help it retain the most strength, much like the arch on a bridge for example. It has been running the same plunger for 4 months with no problems whatsoever as well, so I am quite confident in my discovery, if you even consider it one.

A few points:

1. Black guns are a bad idea. My PVC cannons either stay white, or get covered in colorful electrical tape. This thing would be disallowed in any war I was running, unless you allowed me to festoon it in pink/orange tape.

2. This is not a SNAP in any way, shape, or form, and those who say it is do not know what makes a SNAP a SNAP. It's much more like a singled FAR. I would love some good, clear pics of your trigger.

3. Airsoftguy, your name is Airsoftguy. Kindly shut the fuck up.

4. Drilling holes in your plunger is a fine idea, as that appears to be 1/2" PVC, which is muy overkill. Personally, I would go smaller, or take a small router bit to it.

Seriously, YOU ARE PLAYING WITH TOYS. In order to be on this site, you must meet an age requirement. If you pass this age requirement, and want that "military" experience, play airsoft. I was when I was 13. Then, if you are well over that, and you still want to play with toys, ACCEPT IT! You are playing with toys. Its not about red lasers or dot super sights, or silenced shotgun grenade snipes. Its about running around in a park with gay blasters. Embrace it.

I like the design. Needs more pink. And yeah, its really not a SNAP at all. Although I do like that plunger rod idea. With the holes in it? How is it structurally?

I find it quite amusing how everyone jumps on him for painting his gun black and yet when Boltsniper painted his guns black very few people if any say anything about it. True his guns were a lot more complex and were nothing if not Effeminate but the point is still there. He quite honestly doesn't need 6 people in a row telling him the same shit about it being black he gets it, he even stated in the other topic that he uses it inside if I remember correctly. Give him some useful feedback not just the same shit everyone else said its damn annoying.

Now I believe it is a very solid gun but I would try for a bigger plunger head and if possible just remove the 1/2 inch PVC on the plunger all together if possible or if not try to make it as small as you can. I would have liked to see the catch and trigger mechanism but since that looks to be glued together a brief description of what you used would be good like a clothespin trigger or something else. But overall great job though the insides don't look as clean as the outside but since the covers will stay on it doesn't much matter as long as it works.

1. The holes have no effect on the structure and strength of the piston, it has been running fine for 4 months with hundreds of shots, the stats back it up.

2. I tried to get pics of the trigger mech, but because my camera sucks, the pics were too blurry (much like some of the trigger sear pictures). If you guys would like I have a drawing I used when building this.

Definitely not cut in half, where does it seem like its cut? The only explination I can think of at the moment is the holes I put in it to reduce mass.

I still don't quite understand, the piston is contained in the bolt which is a solid piece of 1 inch pvc...the reciever cover its obviously cut so it can be removed, but has no effect on any performance details.

The giant gap you see (picture 2?) is not of the plunger tube. It is the catch section. The rod is not the plunger rod, but only a guide rod for the springs to compress on. The actual plunger rod is in the far right of the picture. That little bit of white is the back of the plunger rod. Since the plunger rod is constructed out of PVC pipe, it slides over the rail and compresses the springs.

That is, the rear of the plunger rod compresses the springs, rather than the plunger head.
