Myself and a number of other people are trying to start up a hackerspace in New Jersey, specifically the city of New Brunswick. If you're not familiar with the concept of a hackerspace, it's basically a nerfer's wet dream. It's a place where people in an urban center can go and have a space to work on software, hardware, electronics, and all sorts of other kinds of projects, and socialize with like minded people. This video sums it up pretty well:

That's a very short documentary about a hackerspace in Brooklyn called NYC Resistor.
If anyone from the area is interested, right after Split's NIB war, at 6:30pm, we're meeting at a comic book shop in down town New Brunswick to talk about the hacker space. The shop is called the fallout shelter, and it's located at 27 Bayard st, New Brunswick, NJ

You guys called it hack space when you originally were talking about this. I searched all over the internet trying to find one in the city, but now that I search hackerspace I find two within blocks of me. This would have made my life so much easier months ago. But it's a cool idea. I just hope I don't show up to this one in Philly to find it's full of worthless hipster fucks who can just draw pretty pictures and work on their stupid bikes.

Update: You can now watch this meeting via webcam, if you can't make the trip to New Brunswick. Also, some of us are going to a party at a hackerspace in Brooklyn afterward. We'll be leaving from the New Brunswick train station after the meeting. There's an open bar with drinks made by a bartending robot. $20 at the door.

Come support FUBAR Labs (formerly NJ Hackerspace) at our Console LAN Party and 3D Printer Demo on September 6th at 9pm at the Fallout Shelter comic shop in New Brunswick, NJ. That's right, in a couple of weeks, I will have a 3D printer at my disposal, just sitting there, waiting to churn out nerf gun parts. Be among the first to see it in action, and maybe print out an object of your own design. We'll also have halo3 and rock band.

Yeah, some people at another hackerspace designed it but we built it from a kit. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I'm going to try making crossbow and +bow catch plates with it as well as a more comfortable grip for the +bow. Also, we have a web site now. FUBAR Labs. NJ's only Hackerspace.
