I've got a Firefly (with a kick-ass Krylon Fusion metallic paint job, BTW) and I want to re-barrel.

The problem is: the paper collars of stock Firefly ammo are too thick for PETG and I want to keep the "tracer" effect of the glow-in-the-dark ammo.

Has anyone tried to recolor FBR or stock Nerf foam? I'd like to know before I tear apart my Firefly turret and blow $10 on GITD spraypaint.

I have only heard of people painting the back of their stefans. You could probably get some UV reactive paint.

considering the texture of FBR and the liquid consistency of spray paint, I don't think this course of action is advisable. If anything, I'd suggest heating your FBR so that it shrinks a little and experiment with how much you need it to shrink so you can still wrap it with the photoelectric tape and load it into PETG.

Your barrels will get gunked up if you paint the sides of your stefans.

You could sand the dart becuase if it's covered by the tape it won't matter becuase that's the texture that will be going down the barrel.

I've managed to get mine to shrink when I heat it. Like you said, "generally" but there's a way to heat it and shrink it.

If you make CS darts with white felt tips, then you can put glow in the dark paint on the tip. I color the tips of my CS darts with a yellow marker, so you should be able to use paint.

I'm buying some. Then after that I think I will paint the back of the darts with gitd paint. My only question is, will it have a tracer affect like an actual one would have?

If you can't find the perfect size drill bit, try using the sanding bit on your dremel lightly trimming the inside of the PETG. Also, remember that unless you're planning on making CDTSs out of the glow in the dark darts, to cut the PETG to allow for the tips.

I guess you havent seen PETG. It is way to thin for that.

I think if you just got different colored foam that might solve your problem or you could just use stock barrels.

Instead, use CPVC. Not that 1/2 inch stuff that makes a good seal, but the rarely-found 5/8. That should do you up nice.

That'll be worse-than-useless for charging the GITD paint, unless you know someone who sells crystal-clear CPVC.

That's PERFECT!

Better than perfect, even. After removing the heads for Captain Slug's dart mod, stock darts fit too far back in the barrel for the strobe to charge the sides.

But it has a PERFECT angle to charge the heads!

(Am I the only one who got "Poltergeist" flashbacks from that one?)

So it's either GITD hot glue or painted felt tips for me!

Sure, if by "not too much" you mean "No, it really can't, at least not uniformly or easily, because the PETG will flex around the drill bit."

No, it can't. There isn't anything to "Bored" out.


GITD paint is possible, but doesn't soak in well. Tried it once with the firefly. Not really suggested.

Just so we can end the arguments about if people can really bore out PETG the answer is no. I say this because thick-walled PETG is only about 1 millimeter thick ( Not exact). Hope we can get back on-topic now
